We are 20th in the league in attendance. Great teams like the Wizards, raptors, and piston outdraw us. We barely draw more than the mighty bobcats. I have been to most games and Toyota center is half full most nights. Like the lower bowl sidelines are almost always half full. Rockets tickets aren't too expensive. The texans have sucked forever and they sell out every game. There have have been a few full games like the lakers, heat, clippers, and celtics, but in general it isn't the case. These aren't the jvg rockets they are kind of fun to watch. Even if they aren't doing well you have stars like DH,Lebron, kobe, cp3, dwill, etc. I wish more fans would show up.
I still think its the arena and the managements approach on whom to sell tickets, especially lower bowl rowdies need to be in those seats, not freaking CEO's and rich white fat people who don't even follow the rockets
I think it's just because noone knows where the team is right now. I don't think it's because the Rockets have bad fans, it's just that the fans want something to cheer for... If Pat is averaging 15-8 next season and people see the potential of an allstar again they will come, or if someone else steps up or we get somebody.
football is king in america. texans tickets sellout in advance, and with only 8 games, reliant will always be packed.. also the texans are probably the closest team to contention in this city.. they dont suck buy any means, they are poorly run and poorly managed..
I can tell you this. I saw the Rockets play the Kings last week in Sacramento and as awful as the Kings are, the arena was mostly full. I was shocked. This city deserves to keep its basketball team.
You are what your record is. Meaning they suck. If anything The Rockets at least have a winning record...the Texans? Not so much.
^^ but that doesn't answer why other lowly teams with less talent and less promise still sell out their arenas (unless it's the only sport the city has)
Actually im doing a project in school on the rockets and I interviewed a rockets tickets executive and he said that the sell out rate is going to be around 20 games this year. Thats about half our games. Thats not that bad but it's not chicago numbers. I think the lower bowl sidelines are mostly season ticket holders who dont show up
I'm sure millions of people in China disagree with that sentiment. We have low attendance because we have had poor performances this past season. Guess how you can raise the attendance...?
I can understand not liking rich people down there because they don't care about the game. I can understand not liking fat people down there because I just don't really like extremely fat people (Yes, I find it hard to respect someone who doesn't respect themselves). I don't quite understand not liking white people down there unless you're willing to just openly accept and admit you are racist. But I feel like I've read a few of your posts before that allude to this and I'm not too surprised if that is the case. Will a mod care? Nope. As long as you have 1,000+ posts you seem to be fairly golden....but it is still pathetic and ignorant.
Well we have gone to about half the home games every year since the Toyota center was opened until this year. We sat in the lower bowl in the corner over the rockets tunnel. I mention that because I want people to know what I am saying is true. The rockets fans are awful. As a group we don't cheer, we don't make noise, we don't seem to know how to help our team. We sometimes react, but never lead. But my biggest problem with the fans is just bad manners, don't care attitudes and the like. For example, arriving late, I mean really late, after halftime late. WTH? Or getting up DURING a play to go get even more food. For goodness sakes, there are enough dead balls, you can time your many exits an re-entrances for a dead ball. The spurs fans in San Antonio get this. NO one gets up during live action, it just doesn't happen. We've gone to several Rockets games in San Antonio and they just seem to really know the game better and respect the game more. We come back to Toyota Center and just wince at the Houston fans. There is an Asian family of five who sits near us and the wife and three very young kids do not watch the game at all. EVER. They bring gameboys and fall asleep, and they eat the whole game. I just don't get that. I stand up and scream and yell and everyone turns around and stares. Shouldn't have responded, since this is such a hot button, but the arena and our fans are just a lousy place to watch a game. I have seen NBA games in ten other arenas and Houston fans are the worst. I still watch most of the games on TV, but quit going this year.
27 years old.. I have two seats in the Club all season and I plan to keep it that way for a long time. I'm doing my part. And I'm not a fat white guy who doesn't know anything about basketball nor anything about the Rockets... I know a lot... Step your game up if you're not happy.
Its the gas, the worrying about parking, the food prices, no cup holders, and I don't like how the seats are so close together, I would rather chill at my house and listen to Bill and those two idiots.
comparing records is pointless, in football there is much less room for error.. any outsider could see a 6-10 record and say.. "oh they suck".. all you have to do is watch the games and see why they lost some of those games. there was a stretch of 4 or 5 games where they lost in the final minute/play.. the rockets started 0-4, if you do that in football your season is pretty much done. regardless of all that. the texans are the best team in houston atm..
