Well looks like we aren't done yet. This is the best win of the season in my opinion. Not many teams sweep the Celtics. Chuck Hayes and Patrick Patterson were immense.
Shoot, now we'll get all the playoff bandwagoners jumping in. Sigh. This team is going nowhere ... one game doesn't make a difference.
What a game. TC sounded raucous, especially when Chuck stripped the ball from KG, and being up 22 going into the half. That felt real good. KMart was drawing fouls like crazy. As frustrated as I'm sure it was for the Cs, the Celtics announcer was doing the most complaining. The "3 J's... J for jerk" line was laughably bad. Clyde may say some silly things, but he would never stoop to that level of commentating. Loved the production from our big man rotation of Chuck, PPat, and JHill. Throw in some Scola scoops and we're looking like a dangerous team if and when we slide into the 8th spot. Awesome defensive effort. Hope the 3s keep falling from our guards. Every game counts. And the Jazz game counts twice. March has been an exciting month for us Rockets fans.
they also like to post on how as much as scola scores, he allows the opponent to outscore him by a bigger margin everytime. in the last 3 games the combined PF & C, FG shots: Boston .618 Team .423 Bobcats .464 Team .372 Suns .611 Team .455
Can anyone provide a link to the video of the second quarter or the recap of conflict minutes? Thanks a lot!
According to ESPN that's the lowest point total "the big four" of the Celtics have ever had together in over 200 something games they've had all in uniform. Sorry if that's already been posted in this thread. They had 33 last night, I think, and their previous low was 40. Kind of hard to fathom, but we have some great mojo right now. Crappy question for us, though: is Scola's contract going to start looking like a bad move if Patterson keeps playing like this? How can you reduce Patterson's minutes right now, when Scola comes back? Ugh.
Scola's contract is only partially guaranteed his last year, so I believe he has another 3 full years signed up. While Patterson is developing fast and furiously, he still has a few rookie moments here and there(not a problem). I think he can come off the bench for one more full year, and if he is really coming on strong the second half of next year, he should be ready to start full time in his 3rd year(the career arc for most rookies). This means the last 2 years of Scola's contract he can come off the bench in an instant scoring role ala Ginobili. As well as Patterson is playing, Scola still brings an unique skillset to the table that we need right now. Lowpost iso. When plays break down, we can always count on pounding it to him. With Patterson in, our best iso player becomes Lowry, which isn't his strength. This is of course assuming we don't trade either for an upgrade.
Yes this is true. But the bull will say it even when lowry or scola fall down. Bullard just hates flopping in general.
Patterson still has more to learn. Scola is far more fluid offensively than Patterson: he has post moves so you can throw him the ball and let him initiate the offense either by getting a shot or make the right pass. Despite the wins, I still think the offense ran better with Scola on the court (the Rockets had some good scoring periods in Scola's absence but that's mostly due to someone (Lowry and last night Martin) being really hot). Pat is good at finishing off passes now, but you don't want to have him in Scola's role. i trust Adelman to mix and match the bigs as needed.
Celtics are missing Perkins. Their interior defense isnt there no more. Patterson needs to learn some post moves from Scola and he be really good, has a good jumper just no inside. Hill needs strength in the worst way but with the right match-ups he can shine. Lowry makes the team better when he is attacking and setting teammates. Budinger isn't Brian Cook anymore. I can't say anything about HAyes, he probably **** me up.
Thank you. When we lost to the Suns and Spurs everyone's tune was 'Well, we would have won if we had Scola.'...Now we win a tough game without him and suddenly everyone wants him traded. I love Pat, but I'm going to be very happy to see Luis on the court again. He's our only good low post scorer, and until Pat starts to develop that aspect of his game he should play behind Luis. Just because a young player is looking good does NOT mean it's time for the veteran starter to go. Pat will develop just fine getting solid minutes behind Luis and it will probably motivate him to get even better. If he takes Luis's starting job down the road, whether it be through trade or a "demotion" to the bench, Pat should feel very, very proud that he earned it from such a great player.
One game can make a huge difference when you're a game and a half out,, but still in it, with so few games left.
Anyone notice how NBA.com didn't say anything about the Rockets beat down on the Celtics? Just a small note but nothing about the Rockets until you click the article....not surprised. Oh well I'm used to it. Spoiler
When they had the celtics loss topic at first it was titled: Celtics steamrolled by Rockets, fail to gain ground against Bulls Then they change it to that
