From the Chronicle: <i>"I am (nervous) because I face a lot of people," he said. "A lot of people come to watch the game. Told that many came to see him, Yao smiled and said, <b>"Maybe, maybe not."</b></i> Yao, you have a lot to learn. It's "maybe, maybe no."
This is only his 1st game of his NBA career...even if it doesn't count. Once he gets into his rhythm and bulks up that upper body, we are going to see a different Ming.
One can only imagine what it will be like for Yao to play in front of 16+ thousand fans for the 1st time.
There's like 1 Billion people from where he's from!! Why the hell is he all of a sudden feeling shy!?!?
Rudy wanted him to get his feet wet BEFORE it counted. He was eh, and still the best '5' to don a Rox uni since what, '97? It's a Ming Thing...
I posted this in another thread, so I apologize to second thread readers, but I am getting tired of the Yao Ming naysayers.
Apparently Rudy was right. He said he was going to Yao Ming early to get the debut over and to allow Yao Ming to shake any nervousness. Even if it is preseason, you have waited all your basketball life for this and staring at you is David Robinson and Tim Duncan. And tens of thousands of fans live and a huge TV audience that's just hoping you either kick ass or get your ass kicked. The purpose of him playing was fulfilled and he did just fine under all the circumstances.
Click on the 'maybe maybe no' link in my sig. We really need a "shaq maybe a rocket hmmmmm..." thread!
Jeff, I had you beat on this by about 10 minutes. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&postid=602188#post602188 B
