Hornets Waive Lee Nailon http://www.nba.com/hornets/news/nailon_waived.html New Orleans (October 23, 2002) - The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have waived forward Lee Nailon and guard Terrell McIntyre. The roster is now set at 14 players. "By waiving Nailon and McIntyre now, we solidify our roster and give Lee a better chance of landing on another team," said Hornets Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Bob Bass. Nailon played two seasons with the Hornets, averaging 8.4 points and 3.2 rebounds in 121 games. He was originally selected by the Hornets in the second round (43rd overall) of the 1999 NBA Draft. Nailon averaged 9.1 points and 3.6 rebounds in seven games for the Hornets during the preseason. McIntyre, who was signed as a free agent by the Hornets on Sept. 30, averaged 1.5 points and 1.5 assists in four games during the preseason. ### I am a bit surprised by this. He is a decent scoring small forward. I am sure someone will pick him up pretty quickly. Chris
Wow. That is a shocker. Nailon has a lot of potential. If we weren't loaded at the forward posistion I would want us to go out and get him. But we have too many SFs.
I'm surprised they let him go.Nailon can probably get 10-12 points a game and finishes strongly around the basket. He needs to improve his outside shot and his defense.I think some team will pick him up soon.
He played very well last year, if the rockets had any cap left they should pick him up in case rice goe down again NJ can also use him to back up kittles/jefferson
I remember him putting up great numbers when he was starting in place of Mashburn last year. He was just starting to come around when Mashburn came of injured reserve, and then he was hardly used at all. It seems like a very odd decision to just cut him. I would think he would at least have some trade value even if its just a second round pick. KT
They must have him on videotape snorting coke with hookers. Maybe he'll be on The Best Damn Sports Show Period; move over, Michael Irvin. It makes no sense to just cut the guy. He filled in very ably for Jamal Mashburn; and Jamal has a tendency for injury/illness which requires a solid backup.
