Pleasepleaseplease. Tim. Prettyplease with a great big old cherry on top. As many have noted, DirecTV is showing a couple of pre-season games a night on their FREE NBA League Pass preview (channels 721-722, usually). Tonight, the game between the Rockets/Spurs is NOT slated to be shown... ... but why the hell not!? This is a game of tremendous interest to many (at least those on this board), and it's a great chance to get the Rockets some nation-wide attention. The game's already being produced/broadcast on local TV, so that shouldn't be an issue either. How about it Tim, pull some strings? Get the game on DirecTV!!! Gracias! And we'll understand if you can't work this miracle... I'll just have to take down my shrine to you.
I believe there are actually licensing agreements between DirecTV and local stations... your suggestion is best heard if you contact DirecTV and Ch. 51. Maybe Tim can pull some strings, but I doubt it will happen in the next few hours... let's be realistic. Don't take down that shrine, just cause DirecTV doesn't have Ch. 51... don't worry Tim, my shrine won't come down!
Here's the response from In Demand: The NBA pre-season schedule is posted. It is based upon (mostly) whether ornot a game has broadcast coverage. It may change, however, you can refer to it to see if there are any Houston Rocket games. I don't think the Rockets have any control over In Demand or Direct TV's decision. One would assume showing Yao Ming in the preseason would help sell some NBA League Pass packages.
Now that everyone is posting their requests to poor Tim (e.g., I know a VP of Marketing has other things to attend to than explaining to a BBS user how to set up his Real Player [hello kayman]) - let me add one more : I WANT TO SEE ROCKETS GAMES ON TV IN GERMANY!!!! Tim, can you please make sure that this will be possible ASAP?! Seriously, though, I really hope that the NBA one day gets its act together and does a better job of negotiating deals with the German and European TV stations which guarantee higher exposure for the NBA in Europe. The market potential is huge, especially in Germany, and it is almost impossible to follow that sport on TV. I'll gladly help them if they need someone to renegotiate the TV rights...
While you're at it, Tim... My truck hesitates a little when it's in first gear. Could you fix that for me? Thanks!
I think InDemand is giving away the first week of League Pass for free to attract those sales you're talking about... .
Tim, I wanna see it tonight on League Pass! If you manage it you will be embarrassed with praise from the BBS... clutchness personified. (from an Austin refugee)
Well, see, you fix the pudding can thing by ... Seriously, broadcasts outside of Houston are controlled and negotiated at the league level. We'll always push for as many of our games to get carried as possible. But it's not something we directly control. There's going to be limited coverage of all teams on League Pass during the pre-season. Regular season shouldn't be any issue, though. Tim
I emailed the NBA about this. They have shown Miami a couple times, New York, the Wizards a couple times, the Bulls and the Clippers. The Rockets deserve some attention! I want to see Ming play.
Yeah, well, a lot of things can be solved with a Simpson's reference. What does it really prove, though?? I ask you!!
