It was a subliminal racist comment because since the students are Asian, I guess the people in Japan got slanty eyes and are yellow skin and somehow are connected with them, it's all through implications.
Since it's on the news it's an easy target to project her ignorance as shown in the video.. It's like saying to a black person, when they are calling their phones and checking up on Haiti when the Haiti Earthquake happened... Are all black people from Haiti??
Oh wait you were being sarcastic, my bad...

UCLA must be a very easy school to get into . There is absolutely no way this girl scored anything above 1000 on SAT and yet shes there? Asians shouldnt be mad at what she says about asians, they should be mad because it just proves that any idiot can get accepted to ucla thus makes those asian students on the same level as her. The smart asians goto stanford, so maybe she has a point. No offense. A p*rn star gets accepted to ucla and yet asians go there? Is ucla just a very laid back easy school with alot of partying? Obviously. But then again, asians know if they goto a easy school they can get easily beat out everyone there thus making themselves look smarter.

what are you talking about, she doesnt need help.

She is always "Every 15 minutes. deep into her studying typing away her political science arguments and theories blah blah blah... she reaches an epiphany.."

People like her exist because guys have been validating her due to her looks her entire life. She has a sense of entitlement because of this, and doesn't really feel like her actions will have any repercussions because most guys will just say "Eh, who cares what she says....she's hot!" It's pathetic, and unfortunately, all too common. With that being said, however:

i fell asleep almost on a daily basis in Powell when I went to school there I dont know what the heck she is talking about. I barely got cell reception in the stacks - then again i rarely study in the study hall area where most of the students were but even then it was a pretty quiet atmosphere.

She is a cutie yes but boy she wont be able to show her face around campus again. UCLA isnt an easy school to get into but like with all schools there are always exceptions made when you know someone or have a immediate family member be a wealthy alumni who donates etc.

From the few people I know that still go to school there they said this b**** must have had one bad experience that her looks and or daddy's credit card couldnt fix and she is taking it out on someone.

Seriously of all the ethnic groups to piss off at UCLA, the asians are the wrong group they're like 70% of the school.

I like how she spoke from a point of authority on manners. If there's anything we Americans are famous for, it's our incredible politeness and manners.

And if we're stereotyping groups, none are more polite than young, dumb, blonde co-eds. Can I get a 'wooooo', girl?

Alexandra Wallace, UCLA student who ranted against Asians, receives death threats, apologizes

    BY Philip Caulfield
    DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

    Tuesday, March 15th 2011, 12:46 PM
A UCLA student whose racist rant about Asians went viral over the weekend has received multiple death threats, school officials said.

Alexandra Wallace, a junior political science major, has sought the protection of campus police after she received several calls and emails from people threatening revenge for her recording the tirade, titled "Asians in the Library," campus police said.

Wallace told political science Prof. Phil Gussin she was terrified after the locations of her upcoming exams were posted online, the school's Daily Bruin newspaper reported.

Campus cops advised her to reschedule her exams in light of the threats, the paper said.

In the video, posted Friday, Wallace fumes about "the hordes of Asian people" at UCLA as well as their families, whom she claims invade her dorm complex every weekend to pamper the spoiled students.

Wallace also trashes Asians for talking on the phone in the library and imitates a student by babbling, "Ohhhh! Ching chong ling long ting tong!"

A university spokesman called the video "repugnant" on Sunday, and hundreds of outraged students and alumni flooded Chancellor Gene Block's Facebook page with comments slamming Wallace.

The video hit the Web on the same day that an earthquake and tsunami rocked Japan, killing thousands and leaving millions without food, water or shelter.

Wallace apologized for the video in a letter to the school's Daily Bruin newspaper on Monday, the paper reported.

"Clearly the original video posted by me was inappropriate," she said in the statement. "I cannot explain what possessed me to approach the subject as I did, and if I could undo it, I would. I'd like to offer my apology to the entire UCLA campus. For those who cannot find it within them to accept my apology, I understand."

Block called the incident "a sad day for UCLA."

"I am appalled by the thoughtless and hurtful comments of a UCLA student posted on YouTube," he said in a statement. "I believe that speech that expresses intolerance toward any group of people … is indefensible and has no place at UCLA."

An article by the The Asian Pacific Coalition at UCLA published in the Daily Bruin on Sunday called the video "hate speech" and "harassment," but also called for tolerance.

"As a community, we should respond with the grace, sensitivity and civility afforded us through the manners we learned from our parents, and their parents before them," the coalition wrote.

The reference appeared to be a subtle dig at the buxom blond, who ranted that Asian students needed to "use American manners" and described herself as a "polite, nice American girl that my momma raised me to be."

Gussin said he was frustrated by the campus' violent response.

"What Wallace did was hurtful and inexcusable, but the response has been far more egregious," he told the Bruin. "She made a big mistake, and she knows it, but … they responded with greater levels of intolerance."

Just because she made this video does not mean she's not book smart.

lol @ American manners though. Like all Americans are polite.

She apologized for those comments , but c'mon you are telling me a person wouldn't think twice about making comments about Asians , of all places on UCLA's student body . More access to world = sometimes more ways to say stupid stuff i guess.

Yeah I mean I think everyone makes stereotypical comments at home or when they are around their friends, but to make a Youtube video about it was not a smart decision on her part.

Her video was stupid and self-serving but death threats? Really.. The level of response to that sort of stupidity is what the Korean did in his response video.
