I have some silver chains/necklaces that I am interested in selling. I know that there are different types of silver, but I don't know much about how to go about selling without getting, I guess, jipped. I have about 31.1 troy ounces of pure silver (I'm pretty positive). If I were to sell, how much can I at least expect to get without being considered "robbed"? Any experts...or really, just any kind of guidance out there? I live in Orange County, CA. Like I said, it's about 31.1 troy ounces. Actually, I took it to a jewelry store to be weighed. They would give me the troy ounces weight and not the regular ounces, right? Anyways, I want to know how much if it were: 1. Pure silver 2. Sterling silver/925 silver 3. Anything else Or, just tell me anything you can tell me. lol Thanks in advance.
Price per troy ounce of pure silver sterling is .925 of that. anything else is I have no idea. I have seen people selling jewelry in the houston numismatic exchange. I am not sure if they buy silver jewely but u never know. That is incredible you have 31 ounces of silver jewelry. i have silver coins and 31 ounces is a lot of freaking silver.
thanks a lot for your help. i looked into kitco.com too...and monex, and it's like, technically, i know what it's worth (haha), but i don't know what it will sell for. you know what i mean. im hoping there will be some people out there who might be able to provide a personal account of their buying and selling experience. you think 31.1 troy ounces is a lot, really? crap, i better make sure i have my measurements right cuz now i'm looking at it and i'm like, not really. lol i took it to the store and they wrote down 31.1 oz. i heard there was a difference between ounces and troy ounces...like, 12 ounces is equal to 1 troy ounce. what the heck do i have?? haha oh, i have silver coins too. i can't seem to part with my coins yet. as a collector, it's hard.
