One side is going to get ****ed over in the end. I vote the Palestinians. Besides. US needs a foreign power in the Middle East to lean on.

That's disheartening to read, it's a shame Germany is parading around as a first world nation while harboring so many of those people. Two world wars must not be enough for them.

Even our own crazies in the deep south seem educated and tolerant in comparison.

My point exactly. The accumulation of atrocities resulted in callous and hateful attitudes on both sides of this conflict.

Turns out they were family of a friend I grew up here with. From a facebook page:

"Friday night between 22:20 and 22:30 Palestinian Fatah ‘Freedom Fighters’ entered the Fogel family's home through the living room window, did not notice the 6-year-old boy sleeping on the couch and continued on to the bedroom where they slashed the throats of the father and newborn baby who were sleeping there. The mother came out of the bathroom and was stabbed on its threshold. The evidence shows that she tried to fight the terrorists.

They then slashed the throat of the 11-year old-son who was reading in bed. They did not notice the 2-year old asleep in his bed, but murdered the 3-year old with two stabs to his heart. After that, they locked the door, exited through the window and escaped. The daughter, aged 12, found her murdered family after she returned home from a local Bnei Akiva youth group activity."

    basso-

Your behavior in this thread is disgusting. I know it's your shtick to post articles you think validate your world view, accompanied by a little witticism that puts on full display your utter lack of wit. I know you can never be bothered to respond to legitimate arguments made towards you. But unapologetically spreading ignorance and promoting hate is inexcusable in a thread discussing events that are direct results of an environment where that sort of rhetoric has free reign. You're throwing fuel onto the fire to win political points. **** you.

So disturbing. If the Palestinian authorities were even a bit human, they'd find these individuals and hang them.

If you mean the heart of the problem is ruthless hijacking of extremist views by politicians on both sides to satisfy their greed and bigotry, then yes.

hang them? You're better than that.

-The Palestinian Authority was unaware of the attack and played no role in it. Mahmoud Abbas went on Israeli Radio to publicly condemn the attacks, calling them "despicable," "inhuman," and "immoral." Abbas said, "A human being is not capable of something like that."

-Mahmoud Abbas also called Netanyahu personally to offer his condolences. Netanyahu later stated that the statements were, ""weak and mumbled."

-Abbas offered to setup an Israeli-Palestinian-American committee to look in to the allegations that Netanyahu had made about Palestinian mosques and schools preaching anti-Israeli/Jewish rhetoric.

-In response, Netanyahu continued settlement expansion.

The Palestinian Authority is human; they're not always correct and are probably out of their league when it comes to world politics...They've already said they are actively investigating the crime, and if criminals in Palestine are anything like they are in America, I dont expect the criminals to step forward and confess.

It will likely take some time, and once suspects are apprehended, it should go to trial (though I dont know whether it will). I, for one, believe that the perpetrators deserve the death penalty, but am adamantly opposed to 'hanging' them. If the Palestinian authorities were human, they'd seek to execute them with as little pain as possible...because that's the human thing to do.

    You sound a little angry.

Is this part of the standard debating repertoire you teach your students?

"When you have no good argument, just tell your opponent '**** you.' Makes you look like a loser without self-control, but at least you got it off your chest!"

Again, I have made many good arguments, or at least arguments good enough such that you and basso were unable to refute them (a low bar, I know). While I do not instruct my students to use the language you quoted--due to it being ill-suited to the forum in which they compete (a point I made in the other thread which you ignored, predictably)--we spend a considerable amount of time practicing the strategic art of distinguishing between opponents' critical arguments and non-critical arguments/non-arguments.

And yes, I am angry. Basso's exploitation of a tragedy to dehumanize another ethnic group is morally repugnant and breeds the same hate that produces these tragedies. Still, I have been able to make reasoned arguments despite my anger. You are the one obsessing over the most irrelevant parts of my posts in order to fashion yourself as the better man, yet you routinely fail to address my substantive arguments (i.e., you are the "loser"). You just can't resist the temptation to decry what you see as a character flaw in your opponent (i.e., you lack "self control").

You're right. If they are taken to trial and found guilty, then they should be sentenced to lifetime solitary confinement with handcuffs and an Israeli flag wrapped around them with no chance at getting their sentence reviewed and just enough food/water to not die of starvation.

Another thing that sickens me is that I have no hope that the PA will legitimately try to find them and bring them to justice.

It wouldn't surprise me the least if basso's main motivation is to get a rise out of certain people here. I do like some of the info he brings, but that seems secondary to the matter at hand. Maybe he feels some uppity political types need to be brought down a notch. Whatever floats his boat.

The point is that you're not going to score any "wins" against him or anyone else. People can evade, ignore, or dumb down arguments. The only difference that can be annoying to the "righteous" is that basso doesn't disappear when he's "beat". Well, that's your problem, not his. You're better off treating his online persona as it is.

    It's only a forum.

Sure, but basso is more than a petty annoyance. Online forums have come to represent a significant segment of the public discourse. The online personae leak into the offline zeitgeist, so it's important to take them seriously. Typing out thoughtful replies destined to be ignored by your neighborhood troll can tax one's patience, but it's important to provide an alternative to the self serving rehearsals of partisan talking points.

IMO, both Muslims and Jews should adopt a more Christian outlook -- love thy neighbor.:)
