Please. Dragic is a 2 way player. And its too early to declare a draft weak. At least, let the guys play first.
Dragic has made all the difference for us. Outside of deep range shooting, he is superior in every aspect of basketball.
Don't know why people think Brooks was faking an injury in Houston. Not like he was limping around while playing in Houston.
Awful game to watch. I'm not feeling a Warriors' comeback from the Suns. The Magic can put this one in the bank.
The major difference is that only 1 of his 14 attempts have been three pointers. He got away from his mid-range game. But a "whole lot better than Dragic"? Hardly. Dragic just shut him down a few days ago. It looks like Nash will be out tomorrow. Lowry v AB. Finally!
Understandably he was nervous. I'm probably off base with my thoughts on AB but his behaviour before the trade was part of my suspicions.
I didn't say he was a whole lot better than Dragic in that quote. Unless you are referring to an old quote on the two?
I love your comparisons of players after one game matching up with each other. I especially liked you ignoring Brooks' previous two years so that you could compare that one game. Dragic is not that great of a defender (certainly not on Lowry's level, for comparison's sake). He's better than AB, sure, but that's not saying much. Aaron Brooks has proven to be a starting PG that took our team for the first time in a decade into the second round, pushed the champions to seven games, and led a team of overachievers void of all-stars into a winning record. What has Dragic shown? He's been a solid 18mpg backup PG. So yeah, Aaron Brooks is a lot better than Dragic. Sorry if that hurts your die hard loyalties to the GM. The Rockets will probably be a better team this year just by virtue of getting Brooks off the roster, as his unhappiness was affecting his and the team's play. But that doesn't mean Dragic is better than Brooks by any stretch of the mile. In the long run, the Rockets traded a talented PG for a less-talented one. Hopefully they make a good pick to help even out the long-run value of that trade. You are correct in not ever knowing if a draft is weak until the players get on the court, but there seems to be a high number of GMs who feel this draft will be weak outside of the top guys.
I got tired of trying to reason with people a long time ago. I don't even know where to start with people who think Dragic is better than Brooks... I think DM did a good job getting what he could for Brooks when his trade value was at rock bottom. That's a testament to AB's prior accomplishments that you listed...that we actually got a decent player and a first round pick for AB when he was performing terribly this season. We'll see what we do with that pick. I don't think the Suns will be making the playoffs, so we'll probably be getting that Orlando pick. I'm not too optimistic that Dragic + 23th pick will turn out to be better than Aaron Brooks. But if it turns out we got about 70 cents on the dollar, that's pretty good for a player we had to trade.
Yes, his injury didn't heal for months but a few days after arriving on a new team he is suddenly 100%. Use your head.
Comparing Aaron Brooks to Goran Dragic in their completely different roles for separate teams is just really stupid. Of course Brooks has proven to be the better PG... he's actually had the opportunity to start and during that time, he was given the keys to the offense and allowed the opportunity to shoot the ball as many times as he wanted to. Goran Dragic was stuck behind Steve Nash and only given the chance to play 18 mpg. But considering the Rockets only need a backup PG, I would definitely take Dragic + a 1st (regardless of where that pick is) over Aaron Brooks at this point.
