back to reality folks..NO playoffs for us..book it! don't ever mention that teams above us have more difficult schedules..don't hinge playoff hopes to others if this team can't win...hope we do well in the lottery.
You are so correct but about 6 months late. The Rockets never were are playoff team this year. Never.

I disagree. When you look at what Memphis Denver Portland New Orleans even San Antonio watching them tonight there is nothing that great. Maybe LA because they won last year or Dallas with a strong bench? The plan was to play yao and if you saw the workouts with yao at the beginning of seaon along with the games yao did play in, you could see yao was looking to dominate a,nd we would have easily won 5-10 games more this year. 5-10 wins would put us in the playoffs right now. Our team was built around someone that didn't play. And oh yeah our MIP got injured and was never the same.I can say things like "never" or "no how" but it doesn't mean I'm close to right. We are not a playoff team apparently but to say "never" just shows that you are trying to go on a rockets site and get a rise from people? Should I go on a church website and say jesus was 'never' or a kkk site to say that white people 'never' this or that? come on man. I'm tired of bashing and trying to talk tank and rebuild all the time when the best teams of the nba are not that great!! We started out the year slow and we never had the the complement of players we planned for. Even then we still have fought back to respectable. We lose sure but it's not like we are getting rolled by 50 every night. You suck.
Looking to dominate? Only on Clutchfans was that a consideration. He and the organization were just looking for him to be able to stay on the damn court! He started the season on limited minutes...15 per game as a max...in an effort to prevent more injuries. They were HOPING to be able to up that a bit. And hoping by the end of the season he could play serious starter minutes heading into the playoffs. But looking to dominate?? Come on. i'm with you on the bigger point, though....you don't have to be anything remotely close to great to make the playoffs in the NBA. Hell, you don't even have to be all that good....check the East.
If Yao had played is it not assumed that we would have won at least 5 more games? If we were up 5 more games than now we would be a 4-5 seed and in. Based on our previous discussions about yao here it is clear you think he wasn't going to do jack, and I think he would have gave us more wins. Since he has been hurt, you get to be right and I get to be wrong.
Who was going to stop him Dalembert? Kaman? Hibbert? it's almost an accepted idea that we would have won more with yao..Given our playoff position today that means we would be in the playoffs. Yeah I know if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle.
his feet would stop him or at least limit him...they ended up stopping him, but they were his limitation. i never question Yao's talents, particularly in comparison to big men of today. but the man was entering the season with limited minutes....for the purpose of trying to keep him healthy. he had just missed an entire season after major surgery on a foot he was going to continue to put the pressure of a 7'6" man on. it's difficult to say he was looking to dominate when it was clear he was just looking to stay on the court. very difficult to dominate when you're under the hand of limited minutes.
http://www.playoffstatus.com/nba/westernstandings.html According to this website, the Rockets have a 11% chance of making it in the playoffs.
Hollingers playoff odds have us at a 30% chance to make it, while phoenix and utah have less than a 10% chance.
NY needs to bounce back from 3 game losing streak and beat the hell out of Memphis. If NY beats Memphis, we will be only 2 games behind with 13 games to go. Rudy Gay is listed to be back early April... so he is still out for 2 weeks...
the problem is that even without rudy gay the grizzlies are winning. I see them losing another 4 games or so on their schedule. Rockets can't afford to lose more than 1 more game if they want to make the playoffs, but I'll tell you what will happen. Within a week or 2, they will have lost enough games to pretty much be eliminated from play off contention.
I see seven possible losses for MEM and four for Houston. That would tie us and I we hold the tie-breaker.
I predict Memphis will go 8-5 over their last 13 games. If that happens the Rockets will need to go 10-2 the rest of the way to make the playoffs. With home games against Boston, Utah, Dallas, Atlanta, San Antonio and road games vs Miami and New Orleans it will take a minor miracle.
Memphis will be underdogs in 7 games, Rox will be underdogs in 5 games. If both teams win/lose who they're supposed to win/lose to, Rox lose by 1 game.
