Well if your a Dish Network user like myself, then you are sol. I plan to run out and buy a pair of rabbit ears withing the next couple of hours, but have no idea on what to buy. Any suggestions on what to buy would be appreciated. Are there antennas that even have rca jacks, so I can watch through my vcr and tape the game???

I also need help with the Warner Cable problem. Some ex-Cable guy "JLB" or something like that said converter boxes are not the issue.

I have another channel being superimposed on 51, and at times it wiggles to a completely unwatchable channel. grrrrrrrrrrrrr

Has anyone gained anything from having a cable guy come out, like JLB advised. He said the issue is old lines in some neighborhoods or something like that.

I have a solution for Dish Network that works pretty good but you might not be able to get it rigged for tonight.

When I had the Dish installed, I had them install an attic antenna as well. The Dish and antenna hook up at a junction box in the attic and both signals ride on the same coaxial cable down to a splitter at VCR end. The attic antenna costs about $100 but I get fantastic reception on most of the local channels -- including 51.

As far as rabbit ears go... I don't have any idea what you'll get out of those.

Radio Shack has some pretty solid rabbit ears -- my folks have some that are REALLY nice, but I don't remember how much they cost. I got some for $29 I think, and I've been fairly happy with them.

Ok I just called my dish network provider, and he said any cheapo indoor antenna with UHF reception would do, but unless the antenna was outdoors, the reception was going to be fairly crummy.

Well Home Depot has a pair a UHF antenna for 5 bucks, so I'm going to go buy one of those, untill I decide if I want an outdoor antenna or not.

If you are getting rough reception on 51 and have cable, I would recommend going to Best Buy and getting a signal amplifier. It costs about $15 or so.

I was getting seeing double images (ghosts) on Ch 13 and 11. The air signal was just a little weaker than the cable signal. Anyway, got me one of those bad boys and it really fixed the prob!

The UHF loop that you are buying might have flat wire screw terminals (old style) at the output. Does your vcr accept that or is it looking for a Coax input only? There is an adaptor that can swap from terminal to Coax if you need that.........just plan ahead to save yourself an extra trip.

    heypartner,

Nothwithstanding what your ex-cable guy said, when I upgraded to Time Warner digital cable, and thus had to get a converter box, my signal on several channels, including channel 51 KNWS, improved. I did not change any cables or anything else.

I also have two TV's that are not on digital cable and do not have converter boxes. One TV is about 15 years old and has an old cable wiring running to it and the reception on 51 is poor. On the other TV, which is less than one year old, it has a new cable wiring and its channel 51 reception is acceptable.

Maybe converter boxes, wiring, cables and ampliphers can all make a difference?

I have DirectTV in 3 rooms and cable in the kitchen. I have RoadRunner and split off to drop a line in the kitchen for my wife. The reception for 51 is fine but the TV in my kitchen is 13". Not acceptable!!! I've used rabbit ears in the past for channel 20 & 26 and both got very good reception. I can't find my old rabbit ears so I've gotta make a trip to RadioShack myself. I do have an old huge antennae in the attic but I got better reception on the UHF channels with rabbit ears.

So far, I've tried two different antennas from best buy:

    http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?e=11075237&m=1&cat=791&scat=843

    RCA ANT1020

It looks really cool and was only 14.99. I was amazed by how much better the tv signal was! But it is a non-amplified antenna and there was still some image doubling so I decided to try one of the amplified antennas out.

    http://www.bestbuy.com/Detail.asp?m=111&cat=155&scat=157&e=11049901

    Jensen TV930

An amplified antenna. I hooked it up and turned on the tv, expecting a better picture.... Bleah , it was much worse than the RCA. Even at the highest amplification gain, the tv picture was still fuzzier than the unamped antenna. Thank goodness for Best Buy's return policy!

I use an indoor amplified antenna that I bought at Wal-Mart for about $20 bucks. Brand is RCA.

    51 comes in crystal clear.

Again, if you get an indoor antenna, make sure it is an amplified one.

I had one like that and had trouble with it in the FM 1960 area.
