I don't know if you're uneducated, but you're definitely naive.

Another great example of why the public education system should be abolished.

Why are my tax dollars being spent on recreational activities instead of education?

There is much more value in science and computer programming etc. Kids should be excellent programmers by the age of 18.

But hey, we could (and should) have a voucher system where you can choose to send you kid to a sports oriented school, I can can send my kid to a computer oriented school. And if my kid does want to play sports then that can be an after-school activity.

who said there isn't, I would think you of all people wouldn't suggest that throwing more money at science programs will get kids more interested?

Yeah, instead of trying to fix systems that aren't perfect, let's totally abolish all of them.

It can't be fixed, and it's nowhere close to perfect.

Can't fix what is inherently flawed.

The "fix" is privatization, or tax dollars tied to students paired with parental choice of public school or public/private school.

Only way to hold people accountable is $$$, just like everything else.

What do you expect from a “politician"? And now you're all acting surprising.

When the inevitable demand inequity ensues between the ludricously hypothetical sports and science schools; access will be based on residential proximity, income, political clout and whatever unmentionable demographic traits determine those factors.

This would only widen the gaps between the haves and have nots. That widening gap between what was once the middle class and the richest echelon will only continue to widen.

Privatisers who take previous govenment services, turn them into profit centers and give the spoils to their campaign contributors. See the Bush family business of making money off of government contracts. See Perry's previous laying off of the food stamp eligibility workers and giving the contract to his buds, who outsource it (IIRC some of it to Indian call centers). They could not manage it, his buds didn't make as much money as hoped and screwed it up so it it had to revert to state workers to clean up the mess.

Note: you got to get beyond right wing/libertarian theology : corporations good; government bad. You won't find these types of examples on the billionaire Murdoch's channels or your libertarian tracts.
