Adelman really has this team overachieving. We're third or fourth in the league in offense. That's pretty amazing considering we have Chuck out there on the starting 5. I'm amazed that we're at .500 considering how undermanned we are defensively.

I'm hoping Hasheem will turn into the defensive monster we've all been looking for (long shot, I know), and we can turn things around next year with Yao back.

I'm on board with everyone else. We're not going to do better than Adelman, especially with the cast currently assembled. To change coaches would mean to change styles of play completely, and that would entail a difficult and likely loss-heavy adjustment period. Count me out on that.

I like seeing this offense move and think it can only get better next year as we continue to add good pieces and dump off the ones who clearly didn't get the system. Adelman's never going to be the defensive coach JVG was (and vice versa), but adding a significant shot-blocking presence inside would do much more to cure our ills than changing coaches would.

Shane can be a assistant coach at best. He is totally unprepared to be a full time coach.

Your conclusion is a pretty strong statement considering that 1) we don't know IF Adelman is going to be back or not, and 2) if it does happen it may not be Les's choice.

Alexander has been a good owner. I'm tired of the dismissive 'cheap b*stard' attitude.

Don't let the door hit you on the fanny on the way out.

I tend to agree...with what we have and to be competitive, that's special...but who the hell would be better given where we are? I just don't see it...

    Sacramento 5-year record before Adelman:25 28 39 34 27 wins
    Sacramento 5-year record after Adelman: 27(50 game season) 44 55 61 59

Perhaps such a coach is... Rick Adelman? :p

I do feel though that after 20 years, how much drive does Adelman have left in him to go through the grind of being a coach. But if there's still the drive, I see no reason why he's any worse than some new guy.

I wish Nate McMillan didn't just sign that extension with Portland. I'm a fan.

Adelman is the best coach we have ever had. this team was built for him. unless Elston Turner takes over b/c RA is retiring, I dont see any good coming out of not re-signing Adelman.

Only Pop would plausibly be getting more out of this crew than Adelman.

Phil Jackson has never had the guts to ante up and take on coaching a team that doesn't include the top player in the league. And Adelman for all intents and purposes beat him in Sacramento till Donaghy robbed him of his title. If Phil lost Kobe and Pau, I guarantee he would've been gone with a quickness.

This team is full of one-dimensional players that are liabilities on one side of the floor.

Lee, what makes you think that Adelman has issues with Morey? The statement Adelman made about not playing T-Will because he had too many players loaded at that position to play him, or something else?

    Just curious.

My choices would be Lambieer,Cooper,Cleamons, or Thibs asst, i cant remember his name, but he used to be with scotty brooks. Sam mitchell would work too.

Morey needs to be really innovative: Just let Chuck Hayes and Kyle Lowry run the team without a head coach.

I always get a kick out of arguments like this. It takes more guts to do what Phil has done, which is challenging and motivating some of the best players and biggest ego's of all time, while commanding their respect. There isn't a coach in the game who didn't wish they had the aptitude and the fortitude to do what he does, and that includes Rick, who couldn't get it done, even when he had teams that were clearly more talented than Phil's.

And no, for all intents and purposes the Rick did not beat Phil in Sacramento. Sac doesn't have any banners, and Rick doesn't have any rings to show for it. Sure, Game 6 was shady, but this isn't a single elimination tourney. Rick and the Kings had six other games in that series, including a seventh game in their home building, and they couldn't get it done. They choked that series away.

I know Rick's our, "guy" and everything, but the truth is the truth, no matter how much one tries to degrade others' accomplishments. The truth is, Rick could have, and should have won at least one title, but he hasn't. Even when he was coaching the best teams in the league, they all shared the disturbing trait of shriveling in the face of big game pressures.

The thing is, Rick doesn't need to have Phil's accolades be downplayed to prop him up, his accomplishments stand on their own. He's a fantastic coach, and he's helped the Rockets franchise in ways for which I'll remain grateful for a very long time. I've always felt that most of the coaches in the league really don't matter. They're interchangeable. Rick is one of the few that actually matter.

It'll be hard to see him go, but it's inevitable. It's nice that the Rockets are currently fighting for a spot in the playoffs, but make no mistake, this is a franchise that dove head first into the rebuilding process this season. The winning is just a plus. If Rick recognizes this and is committed to the franchise's long term plans, then I don't see how anyone would be against keeping him. If he's only interested in trying to compete as soon as possible, then it's obvious that it's in both his and this franchise's best interest to move on.

I'm down for JVG again. He already knows the team. Well, some of them. He would fine tune the defense. We already have enough offensive players. It would be hard considering the way Adelman has the team playing lately.
