    NBA TALK says....

Also, the report confirms an NBAtalk exclusive report earlier this week that the Magic have offered Bo Outlaw to the Rockets. 'It's a possibility, but know that we've tried to trade for that exception since back during the season,' Gabriel noted. 'Every other team out there is trying to get (salary cap) room, too. So (the Rockets) have been offered players by almost every other team. (Houston executive vice president of basketball) Carroll Dawson will tell you, 'You won't believe the players people have offered to take back nothing (but the trade exception) in return.' ' However, sources have told NBAtalk that Outlaw has already rejected the trade at least once this month.

If I'm understanding it right then it sounds like Houston is going to make some kind of move with the exception if they cant sign anybody. But I wish we would go after a real powerforward instead of Outlaw.

Good job Steve- I was just about to post that myself. I wonder why Outlaw would reject the trade though. Seemed a little strange to me. He could start here, play where he played in college, and be on an up and coming young team. This part of the article interested me too.

So (the Rockets) have been offered players by almost every other team. (Houston executive vice president of basketball) Carroll Dawson will tell you, 'You won't believe the players people have offered to take back nothing (but the trade exception) in return.

It'd be nice if oeilpere were here to tell us some of these guys. Also, this question is for Clutch or anyone else. From what you have heard about our plans to use the exception, and the fact that most teams want it for cap room, do you expect a deal involving the exception to occur very soon after August 1? It would seem like that would be the case, as the exception would have more value to other teams now while some of the free agents have yet to commit.

    u know what guys??
Houston look pretty confident....i think they're confident they'll re-sign mobley, and they already have a few trades worked out for the exception which depend on the mobley situation....which means, if mobley stays, we get a PF or SF, or if mobley leaves, we'll get a replacement......that's what it sounds like....If you've noticed, they're really quiet, and that always signals good things (as in the past)......

PJ Brown would be awesome! (would that mean Jenna comes back to post?)

At least we'll get someone, if not just someone in the last year of their contract.

It appears the Rockets have turned down Orlando's offer for Bo Outlaw. If so what is the Rockets rationale???

Is it that they are just trying to save the cap space? Because we need a true power forward in the worst way.

It is sad. At one point a few years ago the Rockets offense consisted nothing more than feeding the post. Look at us now and we have none whatsoever. Man how times have changed. Not that I am complaining. I love our present offense.

If only we could have had Steve come along a few years earlier. Imagine Steve playing with the Barkley and Dream from a few years ago. One can always day dream...

Steve could have gotten to the three-point line really quickly. [IMG]

Mo Taylor is still floating around. The Magic apparently won't have the cap space to sign him.

Don't count out a deal for Croshere going down also. Indiana could use the exception & in my opinion, Croshere would be a better fit than Outlaw.

I thought Indiana had a bigger exception than we had. I don't remember the details, but I do remember hearing that.

It would be really interesting to hear who the Rockets have been offered straight up for the exception. They're probably all scrubs, but it would still be interesting to find out.

Can Mike Miller be traded? Has he been signed , and is there some kind of rule about trading signed picks? It would be sweet to get him in some sort of exception-related deal.

Why are you all dissin Bo Outlaw. He is one of the best athletes I've seen. 6'8 Pf who is a defensive force, blocks shots, grabs rebounds, runs the floor, can handle the ball, brings it every game and does all the dirty work. If there is anyone out there I'd want on the Rockets it would be Bo.

Mo Taylor - He doesn't rebound good enough for the Rockets needs and he ain't as good on D as Bo.

I have always liked Outlaw. He will never be an offensive presence, but brings the defensive intensity that this team really needs. I think he would be able to contain the better PF's in the West and maybe get Cato to raise his intensity as well. Can you imagine those two up front intimidating and swatting shots.

Remember the defensive intensity that Mad Max and Elie brought????

Did you know that the Rockets could have drafted Bo Outlaw in the second round but passed on him as they passed on the other Houston products Clyde Drexler and Rashad Lewis.

That sucks. I'm not a big fan of Bo or PJ and hope the Rockets have another plan with the exemption.

This is pure speculation (I don't know if this will ever happen). Now that Anthony Mason is on the block, wouldn't he make a nice Rocket? The Hornets will lose Eddie Jones, and probably want more cap space to get a good scoring guard (maybe even Walt Williams can enter the trade talk). The Rockets lack an enforcer type player at the front line, and having him around could go a long way in developing Cato and KT. What do you guys think? Think it's a good idea, and think it can happen?
