I'd say it is a big improvement if he can average 7+ rebounds per outing. Assuming he gets a good 20 minutes off the bench next year.

Seriously this guy can pass for Dikembe's son. What has Dikembe said about this matter?

I think Deke helped a lot with the development of Yao Ming defensively. Hasheem doesn't have the same guy to tutor him day in and day out.

He sounds like Mutombo and Scola together in one.

    Without the assertiveness.

Maybe he can be more realistic and try to have a Mark Eaton type of career. :)

Cato and Swift are better than Hasheem at this point in his career.

    This is statistically true.

    http://www.basketball-reference.com/
    Cato
    1st year: 3.8 points/game 3.4 rebounds
    2nd year: 3.5 points/game 3.5 rebounds

    Thabeet
    1st year: 3.1 points/game 3.6 rebounds
    2nd year: 1.1 points/game 1.6 rebounds

    Swift
    1st year: 4.9 points/game 3.6 rebounds
    2nd year: 11.8 points/game 6.3 rebounds

    And just for kicks:

    Olajuwon
    1st year: 20.6 points/game 11.9 rebounds
    2nd year: 23 points/game 11.5 rebounds

If he can do somewhat bynum can do,that would be great for the rockets. People who bang on thabeet for his foul trouble quickly forget how foul prone chuck was early in his career. That tomahawk chop on the ball used to be called a foul. Players like thabeet needs to play and learn to adjust in game and through experience. He wont play this year, thats the adelman way,but maybe the new coach next year will allow him to play through some of his mistakes.
