I've been debating closely this summer whether or not i think the rockets have a chance to be atleast "decent". But after hearing about DON NELSON dissing on us it seems as if this season could be worse then lasts. We basically have all the same players except an older Walt Williams, and possibly (in all reality) no more mobes. Face it, our draft sucked, or free agent chasing sucked, and it really hurts to say this but there's really nothign for us to do anymore but sit and watch the rocks plummet in the standings this year (and hope for next year in the free agency) If we lose mobley were gonna stink it up really bad, and all the draft did for us was give us more "AIR BULLARDS"

Well, hell, there's no point in watching the rest of the season. It's over guys. Clutch, please create the new NBA Lottery 2001 board so we can start posting. You may as well shut this one down since the season's over.

Maybe next year guys, maybe next year...

I don't mean to be a pessimist, but im starting to come to the same conclusion. The only diffence is Francis is a little bit more experience and we can only hope cato and anderson step it up this season.

Are you kiddin me???? DID U ALL SEE HOW LANGHI PLAYED TODAY??? Our draft did not suck. WE did not get 2 Matt Bullard Clones.

Yeah we got the same team as last year with an older WW, but dont forget out draft picks which will play a crucial role in our season.

If you think after today that our draft picks suck and they are "Air Bullards" there's no hope for you. Neither was even CLOSE to resembling Matt out there.

We may have the same team as last year. So what? We have two draft picks ready to step in, one more year for Francis, Shandon, and hopefully Cuttino to improve, and you never know what will happen with free agents. As much as any free agents, this team needs time. They were playing so well together, with the best chemistry I had seen in years. It doesn't matter as much what we add in free agency as it does how much we let this team gel. And these two draft picks help greatly in the chemistry department. We will be better next season.

first of all who gives a damn what Nelson says he hasnt had a winning record in over a decade. And if you think that Langhi is a Matt Bullard clone then that shows me that u dont know **** about basketball. I think that if Cato improves and Langhi does well then we will be a playoff team next year with or without mobley.

but having sure would be nice

Better watch how I word this, but...

If your going to come down on people for coming down on Langhi over his first few poorer performances, offering up such tid bits as "Lets just wait and see if hes a bust yet" and the ever popular "Hes only played X amount of Rocky Review games, its not an indication of his lack of ability"

Then I would assume those truths would hold water when he has a good game against far lesser talent.

    So Ill keep it simple.

Great game for Dan. Hope he continues to progress, and solidify's a spot in the rotation.

I don't feel so pessimistic about the forthcoming season. I didn't get to see the game --- being in Iowa, you know --- but even w/o Langhi's breakout game in Rox pinstripes, remember that we came together very well as a team toward the end of last season. I think Cat will come back, I think we'll have one medium-sized trade in the offseason, but even if we stand pat, we have some decent first round picks coming to us next year. We're on the rise. The only problem is that Dallas is also looking up, despite having a d*ps*** for a coach (real subtle, you'll never guess what word I was hiding there). So here's hoping Chicago-area native Michael Finley runs off to Da Bulls next year; God knows that team will have the cap room.

okay, how are you gonna go off like that saying I don't know s##$ about basketball. May i remind you that i posted this before Langhi's 23 point performance, during the time after his first two below average games. LOOK AT THE SITUATION FIRST!!!

I think everyone here expects way to much ou tof these summer games. Not all players are going to be lighting it up for 30 a night. It doesnt mean there not good though. I think LAnghis two earlier performances were also good...of course, it wasnt televised, but like he said, they are learning blocks, allowing him to have an even better night last night and lettin ghim continue to grow. Remember, unlike the Dallas's out there, this ROckets team has only played 3 times. I wasnt too impressed by Stephenson last night....he had shining moments but took a number of bill advised shots (and made a couple--that first 3 pointer for example) and turned the ball over a bit too much, but I still think he will be a great player one day.

Say it ain't so, Ghost!! The optimist of all optimists is throwing in the towel? While your points are valid, we have yet to complete the off-season. Langhi's showing last night is exactly what I was hoping he'd be able to do in all my other posts regarding his play this year. He is a 6-11 guy that is a gunner. His shot looked so much like Eddie Johnson's shot in terms of dribbling off his man and simply firing it. And who guarding him other than maybe Kevin Garnett is going to block that? I know this isn't a thread about Langhi, but if he's as good as he showed last night, it will be a MAJOR addition to the Rockets team. If he comes off the bench, we'll have (hopefully) Cuttino and him to light it up for instant offense. If he starts, our starting 5 just got better.

It could go both ways....although i think losing cuttino is more of a psychological blow to the players......it's only natural for them to think they've lost a part of their game...BUT, if they're optimistic, they might ALL just step up their game.....Nothing is clear yet.....

Before we start getting ready for the 2001 Lottery let's remember two things. 1) The Rocks were 7-3 in April and 2) The Rocks were 5-10 in March. Throw out the Vancouver finale and they were a .500 club for the last two months of the season. The Rocks avg margin of March losses was 12.6/game. Throw out the 32 point loss to the T-Wolves and it drops to 10.6. They are a young team with a huge upside. If Cat stays and Langhi produces, I can see them flirting with .500 for the season. The Draft & FA's can wait - they are gonna be real fun to watch THIS season! It will feel soooo good when they eventually put it all together.

everyone here is talking about how this season is going to be horrible, and how we still have the same old team; but it's only july. hell we can't even sign anyone till august. don't forget that we still have a 4.5 million exemption to use. and i truly doubt CD and Rudy are just going to throw it away.

we might not be the best team or anything, but we do have a fighting chance. we have lots of scorers, and if we can somehow solidify our defense, then we would truly be a good team. i'm not saying great, but like stated earlier really fun to watch.

I don't think anyone really expects this team to go to the finals, do they? No, they aren't going....and, let's face it, probably aren't going to get close. What I'm looking for this season is improvement...and heart. I'm looking for a good sign of things to come. And I already see a lot of them. There are a helluva lot of reasons to be really optimistic about our chances over the next five years or so...and hopefully afterwards. But, let's face it...it's not going to be this year. What I want from the Rockets this season is a sign of momentum...forward progress. I think that's all we can ask. I want to see flashes of things to come. I want to see Stevie Franchise dunk over that gorilla in L.A. I want to see Mobes back in Rockets red and blue and put a few moves on Kobe and Steve Smith. I want to see Kelvin Cato finally stand up and deliver on a consistant basis and stuff Duncan a couple of times with authority...and then score on the other end. I want to see our seemingly insignificant draft picks step up and show us what Rudy saw in them that was so special. And, sure, I want to see us win 60 or 70 games...but I'll settle for 35 to 45 with a hopeful sign of things to come. I can wait. I've still got all the games from the past two championships on tape...and if that has to hold me over for a couple more seasons...so be it. I know this sounds like sentimental crap, and I'm sorry...I've been drinking. But I still mean it. [IMG]

I guess if you were bulls fans u'd kill
yourself because their Free agent hunt
    lookin a lil wack.

but back to important matters . . . . the Rockets

I think KT will be much better than expected
    [not a superstar but better]
I think maybe los or T-mass won't make the
    team.

    I feel VERY Optimistic.

hey. i think we are very similiar to the sixers when they made the playoffs with pretty much allen iverson and thats it. just allen and a bunch of role players. we have steve, maybe mobley, and a bunch of role players too. so if they can do it we can do it. cmon guys we can make the eighth seed at least. and if you say dallas will, you can go to hell. stop giving up on the season before it starts. and being optomistic like this is the only way to go, or else being a sports fan is pointless. if i dont believe in my team why should i even root for them? im looking forward to the playoffs not the lottery.

i really want this team to shine this year, and i can't really judge them at this point. the point is that i was dissapointed rightfully so when all the free agents comitted themselves to teams. AWWW WELL... we still got BO
