I thought it was pretty cool yesterday when we heard bits of info from Yao Ming's first practice. I was wondering if anyone has heard any inside info on how his second practice is going (That is, if it has already happened yet ) Chris
well i don't have inside info, but on 610 they had a couple soundbites from cato and how he was impressed with ming. i was very surprised to hear how upbeat he was even though he made some positive comments before yao had arrived. he mentioned how ming blocked collier's hookshot and how that was tough to do. also said, there was alot of hype surrounding him but now that he's seen him play he thinks he can live up to it. not bad cato.
Very cool, thanks for the info! That's pretty much the kinda stuff I was looking to hear.....more about how things are going at practice, how Ming is fitting in with the team and how he is fitting in with the new Rockets offense etc. Chris
I'm really glad to hear this from Cato, since Yao is gonna take some minutes away from him. Man, our center position looks solid now. Cato is gonna be the best center backup in the NBA. I read that Yao also blocked Rice's shot, now Collier's. I'm curious to hear if Griffin blocked his shot already. I can't wait to see Yao/Griffin/Cato ----- Houston's Great Wall of China---- have their block party.
yeah collier has shown a pretty decent hookshot in past games plus with his height i imagine it's pretty tough to get a piece of unless you're 7'6". not quite dream blocking kareem's skyhook but it was nice to hear anyways.
Some how, I doubt this. I think Marc Jackson is probably the best back up center right now. I could be wrong though, but I really like his game. I wish Golden State would have let us have him last year.
The Rockets website has pics from Yao's second practice. A couple of nice pics of Yao posting up on Cato. Check it out www.rockets.com. Enjoy
check out the pic on rockets.com they are cool! "Kelvin Cato gives instruction to Yao Ming during Tuesday's practice session. " hahahahaha please don't make Yao like you, please don't
I don't know if this has been mentioned, but on ESPN News Ric Bucher said Yao has "wowed" the team. He's making shots, making good passes, etc. Then he said Kelvin Cato went to the water cooler and said "This guy is killing me." Though he also had implied to uninformed viewers that Cato..uh...sucks. "At least he's killing somebody" said the ESPN News anchor dude. (btw, he didn't say it in a bad way, like he was finally able to or whatever.)
It's pretty obvious from that series of pictures on Rockets.com. Yao is clearly blowing by Cato on a nice baseline spin move in pictures 3 & 4.
I was just looking through this week's sports illustrated and I saw the new ESPN ad with Ming's feet sticking out. Man, Yao mania really is finally here.
