I think it would be cool when Yao slams one home in some puny 7 footers face if the sound effect guy would hit a gong sound effect. Would that be considered un-PC?
I wouldn't mind if they played this instead. On second thought, maybe this would be better after a timeout in a close game, when the players are coming back onto the floor, and the Rockets have one last possession to try to win the game, and everyone knows the play's gonna go through Yao. At least the young asian fans would appreciate it.
I think it'd be better for a posterized rejection. -Yao blocks some poor soul. -Yao screams something. -Pine screams "Get that s%*t outta hear!" -"Gong!"
All of the sound effects the Rockets audio guys play during the game could fall under the category of "cheesy".
Hahaha, Pine is gonna translate Yao's trash talk to the opponents? That's an idea! He should also translate Yao's on court comments to the refs.
I can see it now: the ref makes a obvious bad call on Yao Ming, who responds with 2 minutes of screaming in Chinese in the offending refs face (or as near as he can bend down to it). He steps away and is repaced by Pine who says, "Yao Ming congratulates you on your courage in making such a controversial ruling. Surely your ancestors were made proud today!"
I heard the gong!!! When Yao went out of the game the first time vs the Sixers the pa annoucers said, "so and so in the game, for YAO MING!" Then they hit the gong sound effect!!!! Anyone else catch that? Are the Rockets folks stealing ideas here or did they come up with that own their own??
