I feel draft day would be a big one for us in which you will see us look to swing a deal with NJN... We will package Scola and a pick or two for their pick which should be in the top 7... With the pick Morey will look to draft a star forward... whether it be a small forward or a power forward the one thing this up coming draft will have is forwards... I personally think hayes and patterson could hold down the 4 spot and we will fill the void at center through free agency (Perkins, Chandler, Z. Randolph)... so I see us grabbing either Perry Jones or Terrence Jones. Next Season I would be happy to see our line-up like this Z. Randolph/Ming/Thabeet/Miller Hayes/PP/Z. Randolph (when we need to go big) P.Jones/C.Bud/Twill Martin/Lee Lowry/Dragic I believe in 2 years that team can fight for a title depending on how P. Jones develops
Sign Marc Gasol, u have to go after this guy. Hes a legit big man with a solid low post game, he is still young, and would fill our gap on the defensive end
Move up in the draft using the extra pick, an asset and our pick, sign Tyson Chandler and hope the young guys develop....by 2012 we should be in a nice spot.
you are correct, but i just used njn as an example... a bad one at that... I still believe we can package scola and our picks to move up to get what we want... and i agree with the M. Gasol idea but he is restricted and memphis will match any offer i believe
There's no way we're having Zach Randolph, Hayes, and PPat at the 4. Neither Randolph or Hayes is a legit 5. However, I do agree with packaging Scola with other assets for either a star centre / small forward. We definitely need to pick up a 5 that can play effective, efficient offense. Either Miller or Hasheem is our starting centre solution.
I just hope he get lucky in the lottery, if we make the playoffs it's going to be very difficult to move up the 10 or so spots we need...but then again if PHX also makes the playoffs we'll at least have more to work with.
Weren't Lee and Howard best friends? Lee needs to call his buddy after this season is over and sell him the benefits of playing for the Rockets. Plug in Howard at the 5 and Houston is a serious, serious contender.
nothing could make us a title contender in this off-season. The realistic strategy would be to make trade for a playoff opportunity.
That is my "dream" as well... but if Howard really wanted Houston the way Anthony wanted NY then it will happen... otherwise i see him running to LA which is really sad.... but if CLee has the kind of relationship everyone thinks who knows... That would surely be a "dream" come true and the Houston Center tradition would live on.
Why are we so eager and willing to trade a 19-8 guy who shoots 50% just to move up in an extremely weak draft? How does that at all make us better.
The draft is horrible and will there actually be any free-agents better than what we have this year,compared to what you would trade to get that player?Would it be worth giving up Lee,Martin for a big and then we lack in the wing Department .

As for next year, I don't know if there is a move we could make to make us a legit contender. Maybe we could make some short term trades to make us a 4-5th seed. I think the year we will be contenders will be 2014. Next season we move Scola for what ever young talent we can get/ picks. By that time we can resign Kmart for a smaller contract. I could see by that time Lee being our "starter" but with them getting similar minutes and Kmart more as a 3 point specialist. Pat will be playing much better by then and be a legit starter. With a 31 year old chuck backing him up when we need someone to get dirty Hopefully Twill or Bud will be filling the SF alright or maybe we get someone. And hopefully we have a legit big. Be it Thabust or someone else.
All I have to say about the matter is, only we can prevent wildfires, don't let our forests become 'once upon a time'
