Only 2 ways for Houston to return to greatness?

    1. Resign Yao and continue to make him our centerpiece.

    2. Trade for Tmac back.

Just Kidding. There are a couple of ways for this team to get back on the right track. But in order to get there, there will be some growing pains. We all want to go from the before to after right away. But we all have to deal with the harsh grueling in between part.

First thing first, we need to find this team a superstar, the face of this franchise. The best way for this team to acquire a superstar is most likely will be done through draft. I just don't see Morey being able to trade for one given the type of assets we have. The Rockets have a better chance of trading up the draft than prying a star from another team.

The Rockets will need to acquire a very high pick, at least top 5. They will have to risk it and go for the best player with the highest ceiling possible. Once we do that, we will have to wait for that player to develop. If he is a true superstar, it should only take 2-3 seasons before he will be good enough to lead this team. Most superstars in this league have already shown their star potential in their rookie year. So basically if the Rockets are lucky enough to get that, then they will start plugging in holes around the star.

Building around the star shouldn't be harder than finding one. Once they acquire a star, they should know what type of players that will be the best fit for him. Then they will have to acquire another high draft pick or trade their high pick for an establish star from another team to pair them up. But the way the league is going on right now, we need at least 2 big stars and one 2nd tier star player. But that is roads ahead.

We can worry about finding the right pieces and other stars to pair up with this team later. First thing they need to focus on is to acquire a young star first, then the rest can come later.

The Rockets are winners, not losers. So they will play to win every single game. But if they're playing to develop their young players, most likely they will lose more games than win. So at the end of the season, our pick should be around top 10 hopefully. If Morey can play the cards right, we can trade our very own high pick, along with some good young players and the picks he acquire through trades to acquire a higher pick.

But in the Nba, there are so many different ways a team can get to elite status. Hopefully Morey can pull something big out of his hat this offseason because his back is against the wall. He knows he must do something fast because if the Rockets are unable to pull off a major trade during the offseason, it will be the 3rd year in a row that they rolled out without a star. And that will be a big time disappointment because Morey had 3 seasons to get this team a new star and he's still unable to and this team will continue to be mediocre.

It wouldn't feel right though. Like I was exploiting welfare or something.

Good luck convincing Adelman to tank. My guess is that there's better than even odds that he's gone at the end of the season, meaning that he has zero incentive not to try and win as many games as possible. Maybe even sneak into the 8 spot.

    1) Let Adleman retire

    2) Trade Martin and Scola (two guys who are worth something but will be worthless by the time we are competing)

    3) Suck for 2-3 years

    4) Draft or trade for a superstar

    5) Win championships

I wouldn't say tank the season, but play every abled player that they have. No player should be inactive, seeing as we only have 14 now.

"A" superstar? One superstar isn't going to cut it. Boston's got their big three, Miami's got their big three, NY's got Melo, Amare and Billups now, LA's got Kobe and Gasol, etc.

Somehow Houston's got to figure out how to attract multiple superstars. Rebuilding is not going to be easy.

No, this is where you are deadly wrong! and **** moral victories!

The rockets would get swept in the 1st round! Plus Phx, Memphis and Portland all are clearly a better team than the Rockets. To put it in other words: THE ROCKETS ARE NOT MAKING THE PLAYOFFS! its that plain and ****ing simple....

The only thing they're doing by choosing to play for the "playoffs" is hurting their draft positioning. And for everyone's information, regardless of the lock-out the one and done(r's) will leave for the draft as they done in the past ... that much I can promise!

This post is pure, simple, unadulterated, brazen and unacceptable racism. I am surprised such bigotry is still existing and even allowed in this age of the internet, serious and respected blog sites, and facebook.

I hope the Clutch Crew will take a serious look into this. This bbs has earned a lot of respect and integrity over the years and this is an obvious taint in this blog if this kind of bigotry is allowed.
