I'm excited about the draft picks and the prospect of landing a great young center or PG. No, the draft isn't that deep right now but that's only because we haven't seen any players emerge from the NCAA tournament, which starts next month. What if the Rockets package the picks to get a PG like Fredette or Kyrie Irving, who has star written all over him. Perhaps Morey will go after a long athletic 6'11" kid like Perry Jones for the center position. Oh, and I agre that this team was going nowhere with Battier and Brooks so I think it was a good thing to trade them.

Never give up! At this point we're two first round picks richer; let's forget about the lower end of mediocrity and shoot for the 8th seed! Upper crust of mediocrity baby!!! Set your sights!

couldn't be more excited for Dragic he's like the scola of point guards i just hope thabeet can develop and maybe just anchor our defense even if its just off the bench. Get Olajuwon on the court to mentor might help and get scola to help his foot work cause scola is lord of the dance. if not at least their young and got time.

we've won 2 playoff series in 13 seasons. there are only about 4 other franchises who have matched that kind of futility. it sucks.

I think you can be excited about watching a bad team.

This year we've been a mediocre team, just good enough to have heartbreaking losses to teams that aren't very good. It's hard to be excited about a team that loses to bad teams at home.

And the frustration with Adelman's substitution patterns was no fun. As many people think, he was probably playing Brooks to try to break his slump or up his trade value.

Now we've opened up a lot of minutes for guards. We get to see Twill and I'm excited about that. He can learn through playing, as he won't have big minutes this year. Dragic apparently shows flashes but is turnover prone. I like the idea of having a PG who can dunk.

How many games until we see ANY Thabeet?

We probably won't see Thabeet until he's had some practice time. We have 4 games in 5 days, the last 3 on the road. Then 3 days off and a home game March 5 against the Pacers. That's the earliest I think we'll see him.

Barring a game 7 meltdown against Dallas, and a couple of late 4th quarter meltdowns against Utah, there was no telling how far those teams could have went.
I'm excited about this team as I am about every Rockets team. My debate with you is that I think we were a mediocre team only this past 1 and 2/3 years. Before that were a 5 seed in a very competitive west and took the Fakers to seven games. Before that we had 2 consecutive late 4th quarter meltdowns resulting in game 7 losses to a good Utah team. Being 4,5,and 6 seeds in the west doesn't make you mediocre.

    I agree

I agree with most of what you have said. While we are in the rebuilding mode, I also think it is time to start fresh with a new, young, and a hungry coach who communicates better with younger players, who is not rigid and set in his ways, and one brings a fresh approach. I am tired of the same old recycled coaches who go from one team to the next every few years.

Let me preface this by saying I am a huge Baylor fan. Perry Jones is not a center.

I would like to see Elston Turner, Jack Sikma or T.R. Dunn get a shot as head coach. ( T.R. Dunn is the one I like the most & there is no real reason way ).

The Rick Adelman system is not broken... IMO it is time for a change of leadership

I would try to keep most of the staff, too.
( IF & ONLY IF we move away from a 10 man rotation )

No need for a 10man rotation now. 8-9 at best.

I'm excited they at attempted to choose a direction. This offseason will be very important once they get a new cba. I honestly think if they continue to build this team, they can attract Williams and Howard at the end of next year. They have enough draft picks and should have capspace to be in the game.

I will be interested in the draft, but the players Morey drafts are never exciting at the time. A while later, you find out that he did a good job selecting them, but on draft night, you have to figure there were other players just as good that he passed on.

In Summer League, you usually get a glimpse of the new players, and you can get a little excited at that point, but there won't be any Summer League this time. There will be a lockout of who-know-how-long.

I still have long-term faith in Morey and the Rockets, but I don't expect to be an excited Rockets fan for another nine months or so.

    Cheers.
