It looks like based on last season's stats, Thabeet was able to get 3.28 blocks per 6 personal fouls, which would have seen him play 32.8 minutes before fouling out.

    That's actually not bad.

Watching that Yao/Thabeet practice video made me really want Yao back. I hope we resign him for cheap. It'd be so sweet to see Yao and Thabeet play at the same time. Of course, it'd work out horribly but it'd look really cool haha.

I really hope this was just a case of Twitter being so fast on everything.

Would make the Rockets look horrible not to tell the guy voice 2 voice.

I want to hear Battier's reaction. Are there any articles with his quotes or any podcast of him speaking on it yet?

Didn't Deron Williams find out he was traded on ESPN?

Dragic also found out he got traded from Steve Nash. They got off a team flight and Steve found out from turning on his phone before Dragic did.

This is exactly why I had no problem with the way Lebron James announced he was leaving the Cavs.

If this clubs have no problem letting others know before the player himself, I see no problem with the players doing the same.

I'm trying to give this one a chance, but I freakin' hate this trade with a passion.

I've read all the pros and cons, but I'd much rather have Shane than Thabeet.

There had to have been a better deal out there. Gerald Wallace was given away for a bag of peanuts.

It's really deceptive to call it "Shane for Thabeet" though. Not even including the draft pick, it's just a half-season rental of Battier. He was a free agent after this season anyway and it's not like we're going to make the playoffs.

Good to see Thabeet recognizes how akward his handle was now that he is in Houston. Hakeem is a the number sports hero in Houston.

He probably means the number 1 sports hero in Houston.

We weren't competing for (lack of better word) ****!So trading for Gerald Wallace would only hurt our draft positioning, which from last time I checked can be as high as the 8th pick. This trade makes sense more sense for us with the extra draft picks, than trading for Gerald Wallace.

Reportedly, Morey went after Wallace hard, but Portland had one extra draft pick to give that Houston didn't (or wouldn't'?).

Houston traded their 2012 first for T-Will so they were unable to move any of their first round draft picks from 2011-2013. Portland had the picks to get the deal but Houston seemed more willing to let go of talent.

    Thabeet excited to join Rockets

[rquoter]HOUSTON - New Rockets center Hasheem Thabeet told FOX 26 Sports Friday he is "excited" to join the Houston organization.

The Rockets acquired Thabeet, who is 7'3", from the Memphis Grizzlies in the trade that sent Shane Battier to Memphis.

"It's crazy and great at the same time," Thabeet said. "It's a new beginning, a new opportunity and I'm very excited."

Thabeet said it's not easy to be a young player and get traded.

"It's pretty tough," Thabeet said. "I'm not the first player to be traded.

"I spoke with (Grizzlies) assistant coach Damon Stoudamire and he told me a lot of guys get traded.

"Shaq (Shaquille O'Neal) was traded, so it happens."

Thabeet has already spoken with the Rockets coaches.

"They just told me to come in and play defense," Thabeet said. "They said don't worry about scoring 40 points or blocking 10 shots. They told me not to try to do too much."

Thabeet was the second-overall player chosen in the 2009 NBA Draft, but has yet to live up to his potential.

However, he doesn't join the Rockets feeling he has to prove anything.

"I'm just coming here to do my job," Thabeet said. "I believe in myself and I am going to work hard.

"I don't want to just be in the game, I want to be in the game and be a factor."

In 2009, Thabeet came to Houston to work with Hall of Fame center Hakeem Olajuwon, the greatest Rocket of all time.

"He just told me to be patient," Thabeet said. "I usually put a lot pressure on myself.

"Hakeem said nothing happens in a day."

In two years in Memphis Thabeet played in 113 games, averaging 2.3 points and 2.8 rebounds.[/rquoter]

I'm excited to have him here, can't wait to see him on the court.

All you have to do is protect the rim and rebound big fella! The offense will come later...
