Yao is supposed to be healthy every year. He never is. Only a moron would construct a team premised on Yao being healthy. Yet that is what Morey the Moron did.

    Muck forey.

Money quote from Morey is at 16:00, he sounds frustrated:

Morey declined to say which players he thought had All-Star potential.

I think it's pretty obvious Terrence Williams is one of those guys.

I imagine that's why pretty much every trade the Rockets were involved in today had something to do with Battier. And why, ultimately, they probably didn't do everything they could to go after someone like Gerald Wallace.

I'm gonna have to go with Le$ on this one. I'm sure Morey would kick Yao to the curb if he had the choice, but the owner wouldn't let him go. So it's more like Morey is doing his best despite having Yao being a black hole.

I'm a little disappointed with the trade deadline, but again, we've all been disappointed for the better part of the decade.

However if Yao does resign with the Rockets (even for vet min) I will probably stop following the Rockets for a while since it'll be clear that championship isn't Le$' top priority.

Probably, but he is still only 23, and started playing organized ball very late. I don't expect him to become an all star, but there is still room for improvement and reason to think he isn't capped out. God, just look at the improvement Chuck Hayes has made to his offensive game since his first few years when trying to make a wide open layup on a consistent basis was an adventure. Unfortunately for Jordan, Patterson is taking better advantage of his opportunity to play than Hill did this season, so he may not get another chance any time soon.

Looks like he hasn't slept at all... Very tired and surely disappointed. Anyway, the moves will look better with time.

    TWill
    PatPat
    JHill
    Thabeet
    Chase

    Your time.

I guess were going to have to agree to disagree. Because I don't believe a 23yr old player in his second year, with very limited playing time his rookie year, is done growing and developing his game.

Morey needs to tell the coach to give them playing time for the rest of the games. Give up this season already.

it all depends on which side you are looking at.

w/ each move in the past years, the team is becoming worse and worse. each year, we won less than the year before. eventually, we will won less enough games to be awarded with a top pick in future. don't you think today's moves put us in better position in future?

Why do people forget this? Everyone person we brought in until this year has been for the Yao/Tmac era. This year was supposed to have everyone fit around yao (hence K-mart in the first place).

Morey has been dealt a terrible hand and I think he has done a decent enough job as is. Could have it been better? Yes, but all GM's could have done something better in their tenures.

Wish we had gotten rid of Chase.

This is very nicely put, and it sums up exactly how I feel.

I'm sure he tried to do better, but he's stuck selling Webvan stock this year. Yuck.

I think the "potential all star" talk is rubbish though. Seriously, that's the only BS spin in that appearance, but what BS. It's a long shot even for Kevin Martin, and I don't see it all with the young guys. Good contributors maybe, but never all stars.

By the time he develops into a consistently good player, it will probably take 4plus years and he'll probably be on his 3rd team.

Chuck Hayes, an undrafted player...what were your expectations of him when he first came to the team? You really think Hayes' bball iq and will to win is comparable to Jhill, even back when Hayes was in his 1st or 2nd year? Hayes was a starter in his 2nd year if I recall. Same with Patterson, I see a big difference between Patterson and Jhill, even though they basically have the same game (except Jhill's occasional shotblocking).

God help us. Maybe we can turn it into a heartwarming comedy.

Everyone acts like Morey is the only GM in the league who was trying to make a big move... Not the case. Which means the chances of any 1 GM making a big move are small.

Question... When you have a guy who makes $17 M a year and WHEN healthy is the best Center in the league, what are you supposed to do? Who would you go get and have Yao at same time? You cant plan for him to be out...
