So he's not playing this year? :p

Keep this in mind as time rolls on. ;) "Thabeet!?, where's Thabeet?!, is Thabeet playing tonight?!, is Thabeet active tonight?, activate Thabeet! , free Thabeet!, etc" :p Though not sure how many will have a hard-on for him like they do for Terrence Williams(or at one point Hill.)

"As is" as of NOW. This team isn't going anywhere no is snagging a superstar this season. Morey has said quite a few times that one or more of the young guys needed (and still needs) to take a big step. That's just not for on court play, but it obviously helps in making a big move. But now you have more draft picks to throw at a potential deal if and when it materializes.... not to mention three more young guys with potential getting playing time that could materialize into really good players for your team or to aid in getting a star (TWill, CBud and Thabeet).

I'm as disappointed as anyone that they couldn't swing a big time, jaw-dropping move today. But give credit where it's due. Morey DID help position this team better for making a big move or two down the line to shorten this rebuilding stage. And that's coming from someone who thinks Thabeet is an absolute zero and probably always will be.

Eh... they could if we play Thabeet heavy minutes, and have him learn through playing. Even if he makes mistakes, it will be part of the process and growing pains the rockets will go through with him. And the same thing can be done with all our other young players like Patterson, Hill, Williams, Dragic and Bud.

Once we remove the pressure of having to perform in limited minutes maybe he can get more comfortable on the court!! The Wolves did this with Kevin Love and at first he struggled mightily, till eventually he started to grow as a player, and became productive!!

Also, another thing, if Jordan Hill turned out be the "bad rookie" that D'antoni envisioned him to be, then I don't have high hopes that Thabeet will turn the corner here also. My thoughts turn to the coaching staff (like Sikma) and the developmental staff like Shawn Respert, can they actually improve Thabeet? My opinion: no.

My personal opinion: Thabeet and Budinger are who they are, and who they are aren't enough to snag a superstar. Twill is a wild card since the dude is buried on the bench, he is probably the one I am hope that will take the next step, provided he gets minutes first.

The first round picks that we got are structured to be low picks or non lottery picks, not too attractive in offering to get a superstar. It looks like our most valuable picks are going to be our own.

What do you think New Jersey just did? What badass, elite player did the Knicks shift for Anthony?

Thats not true. Morey has been building around Tmac and Yao and has done so successfully. Acquring the guys he thought would work with them, they couldn't hold up.

Remember Martin....Artest? Two guys ppl wanted on these boards for a long time, Morey got them. How soon do we forget?

Morey has not been stockpiling assets for years, he's been building around Yao and Tmac.

OMG, no he hasn't the guy(Hill) is a freaking SECOND year player who's been playing out of position all year. Its to damn early to pass judgement on Hill, specially with the rocket not putting him in position to be successful. Sheesh, you people are impatient, why can't you guys understand that "RAW BIGS TAKE TIME TO DEVELOP!!"

It's 'Jimmy Johnson' strategy applied to basketball. If you get enough draft picks, one of then should hit it big.

Did he mention Ish in the press conference?

I'm in the beginning and didn't hear him say his name.

That elite player is called New York City. In the New Jersey deal, Jazz wanted to only deal with East teams and Aldridge reported on TNT that the GMs of the Jazz and Nets were buddies from 76ers days. That offer for Deron was basically the same offer for Carmelo.

At the end Morey could not sell the farm for Melo Rental
    That's actually a blessing
He doesn't want to be here long term

Plus we couldn't compete with NJ's trade anyways. People saying we could have used Scola as our piece... No GM would take Scola over Favors ha. Maybe if we did Lowry Martin and picks... But then our team would probably suck more cuz DWill would of had nobody to dish the ball to.

It definitely looks like Morey is disheartened a little bit. He had bigger plans, but the "assets" he worked so hard to acquire over the past couple of years have completely fallen off the map this year.

But at the end of the day, when everything else fell apart, Morey was able to add some pieces that may or may not help out in the future, while still giving him space to go after someone like Perkins in FA this offseason.

Will Thabeet turn into a solid defensive Center? Who knows... but if he doesn't, that's fine, the Rockets got a future 1st round pick for a guy they probably weren't going to keep after this season. It's something Morey pretty much had to pull the trigger on.
