now i'm upset. i was under the impression that it was the Grizz 2011 1st rounder. I am not cool with this at all. this was not a good trade. thabeet is a liability right now. we should have gotten more. if this was the alternative, we should have sent Battier to Boston for his chance at a ring out of the goodness of our hearts.

Do you have any sources for that? Because I never heard anything about us picking Thabo on that draft day.

Considering what the Celtics ended up getting, we could have had Semih Erden. I would have much rather have had him in a deal over Thabeet.

Rockets got something for nothing. Battier's an unrestricted free agent. If they want him back it's possible.

It's probably a rental. Battier can sign with us within the next two seasons. ;) we won't be contenders down the stretch anyway
Neither of the teams want to commit to a lopsided move with DM so this is moot. We got back marginal players for playoff veterans
Dragic is decent and Thabeet is an upcoming bust maybe
The good thing it opens up more room for 30pts performances by Bud or Twill
Adelman has to play Twill right now. Regarding our third string PG problem he can slide him to the one or Courney Lee can play the part
    All set

at $5 mil a year, with most scouts considering him a bust, we sure did get something ...but battier is not nothing. there were other interested teams. i feel the pick should have been better than a 2013 lotto protected pick. maybe im being unreasonable, but i just expected a little better than that.

    It would be awesome if......

Since we received Thabeet, it would be awesome if hakeem olajuwon trained him to be a interior painter defender. Thabeet was known for his block shots and Oljawun (well, he is number one in blocks)..

Thabeet didn't really get a chance in Memphis. But under adelman, I think he will see his fair share of playing time.

Long-time lurker here. How did this trade work with the 25% salary rule? Battier's about 7.3M, and Ish is a bit under .5M. Thabeet is around 5M. I thought picks were just sweeteners to deals, but do they actually have true "salary cap value" as well?

If he just stands in the paint with his arms in the air it will be better interior D then we've had in a long time.

Settle down people, he's only signed through next season and this offseason FA are terrible anyway.

Give him a 1 year tryout if he sucks he's gone and we have cap room for a strong 2012 FA class.

Can we stop these "let's get Hakeem to turn [insert token big man here] into a superstar" threads? Hakeem doesn't work for the Rockets, he works with players that he thinks he can actually help (Kobe, Dwight Howard), not guys who are fringe NBA players. And anyway, it is well documented that Thabeet doesn't even really like playing basketball and only views his NBA career as a job and a payday, the guy is more passionate about soccer than basketball, so I don't know how much extra time he will spend training.
