Huge Bulls fans here, and yes, I agree the bigs will have outstanding careers...but I'd give up Tmac for either one of them, and I'm pretty sure I'd have a nervous breakdown if I had to choose between a Tmac/Brand cornerstone and Tyke/Eddy cornerstone. I wish the guy would shut up sometimes and stop giving the columnists bullets to shoot him with. But one thing K says is true---it's good some of those didn't fall his way: A.Davis, TOR - 5yrs/60 million (signed 7/01) E.Jones MIA - 7yrs/93 million (signed 8/00) T.Thomas MIL - 6yrs/67 million (signed 8/00) Not only did he save some cash, but Mil/Mia/and Tor caps are hurting (witness the loss of Keon Clark, who vince blasted the team over). Preseason stats without Rose, Marshall, or E-rob having suited up yet: Tyson- 28.0 min, 13.3 pts, 9.3 reb (3.0 off), 2.0 blk, 2.0 ast, 60% FG, 71.4% FT, 3.3 TO Eddy- 31.3 min, 15.7 pts, 7.3 reb (3.7 off), 1.0 blk, 0.3 ast, 53.1% FG, 56.1% FT, 3.0 TO JWil and Jamal are tied...so far...
Wow, those numbers are getting pretty good. They're preseason #'s, but, nevertheless, are pretty good...They seem to be coming along pretty well.
Chandler is getting many more rebounds than I expected his slight frame could manage. I am impressed.
Brand/McGrady would blow Chandler/Curry out of the water. Any Bulls fan who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves. It's the preseason, and they are playing extended minutes against scrubs from other teams. Wait until the starters get back and then we'll see what they can do. Funny how Chicago press seems to all have a degree in Spin Doctoring, though. That's all they do when it comes to the Bulls.
I know you've posted a bit already, but welcome to the board, Isle. That was a very fair and balanced post. I think Krause is just rationalizing, but I think you summed it up best. I'll wait and see how the Baby Bulls turn out, but if they become something, good for Bulls fans. They've paid their dues these past few years, or at least the true fans have. I'll have less sympathy for what bandwagoners may flock back to Chicago when they become a competitive team.
Well, that's pretty obvious. I don't think that isle is trying to say that you are wrong, but, rather, that the kids have some pretty good preseason numbers thus far.
Ewing's retired; Dream's done; Mourning may never play again; Robinson is in his last year; and Shaq is having more problems with his big toe. There are no quality big men in the league any more. That's why I think that Krause made a good decision last year to grab two young bigs with potentials when he had the chance. The bulls will become a contending team in the east and probably will be there for 10 years if Curry and Chandler don't leave. That's also the reason why I'm very optmistic about the Rox future after seeing Yao Ming play this summer. I believe that Yao will prove to be better than all these high schoolers and become the next best center in the NBA. Can you say Rockets vs. Bulls in the finals in five years? It's a shame that Dream didn't get his chance against Jordan's bulls. I always believed that we could beat the bulls in 94' even if Jordan did not retire.
Didn't the Rockets beat MJ's Bulls in 93 (the year Shaq / Penny went to Finals to get swept by Roxs) a couple times during the regular season. If I remember correctly, thats when Madmax got into it with MJ.
Not bad, but what about that other high school kid from last year's draft? Kwame Brown's Preseason Stats through 4 games: 27.5 min, 18.0 pts, 8.0 reb, 1.5 blk, 1.5 ast, 58.3% FG, 77.8% FT, 1.25 TO I'd say he has Curry and Chandler beat! Too bad it don't mean a damn thing in preseason.
Yeah, I haven't seen any of the high schoolers, but they all seem to be successfull in the preaseason. I would love for Brown to have a good season, and vault Jordan to the playoffs for one last run.
Mad Max was a jordan killer! He always got the best of Mike. The Rox definately would have beaten the bulls in the 93-94 finals. They got robbed in the last regular season game against the Spurs on a tip in by David Robinson that was allowed after the final buzzer. Thus, Seattle gained home court advantage against the Rox because they ended up with a better record by one game. I belive that the Rox would have held the tie breaker adavntage and gained home cout against the Sonics in the western conf. semis. That series went down to the wire with the home team winning every game and game 7 was soooo very close in seattle.
