Looks like we're still in holding pattern... while adding 2 1st rounders

I 99% sure Morey went into the deadline trying to move up. And when he couldn't, decide to basically stay put.

Brooks and Battier are expirings, and unlikely to be retained if we really want financial flexibility for 2012(for that 1% chance of landing a star PG). And they've basically been converted into salaries that extend an extra year, while picking up a couple of mid-to-low 1st rounders. So it's kind of disappointing that Morey did not make a major move, perhaps Scola/Martin for a young stud, or something like a Granger/Camby combo. But at least we got marginal benefit. Par for the course for Morey, it seems.

Looks like we'll have to wait til the offseason, and like the new CBA, before finding out where the team will go next. Yet more waiting... *Sighs*

I'd rather wait then rush into something we're not sure about. Especially with all the uncertainity next year. Like I said previously, if Thabeet is good, then we've found us a center, if not his contract is small and expires in two years. He's only 24, if he can't play, then we at least have a 1st round pick.

As for Dragic, he seems to be at least equivalent skill wise to Brooks. So we basically just got a low 1st rounder for nothing.

While I am disappointed there was no major trade for a superstar, I wasn't expecting much. It's not like Danny Grangers and Kevin Loves are growing on trees. They're hard to find, and even harder to trade for. So, we'll see what happens. I've been waiting for years to see a trophy in Houston(I was too young to remember Dream's) I can afford to wait a little longer.

With Denver and Utah falling out, Phoenix could very well make the playoffs making this a mid-1st rounder.

    Memphis' should be a mid-1st

    NY's will be mid-late

    Ours will be lotto.

Package those and we could get a star.

New York is next year, but I think we can trade the swap option, however I don't know who would want that except a good team.

Team didn't get better in the least today. There's been numerous postings that we don't need to be making a deal just to say we did, and thats the only thing we did. We could have gotten Perkins or Green or Wallace, but we chose to yet again get unproven players.

What really frustrate me is that I can't really find fault in any of Morey's decision-making. I like it. I believe it's sound. But in the end, it's so frustrating to see sound plans not bear fruit. I know part of that is just being too impatient, but it's frustrating nonetheless.

This deadline is the epitome of Morey's style. We give up nothing, and we got something nice. But it's not going to put us over the top unless there are some serious diamonds in the rough this upcoming draft.

Obviously, the super-best scenario is that all those things plus whatever necessary to get CP3. But I honestly don't see too much use for mid-1st rounders for ourselves. We're at a critical point where more marginal to good players aren't going to make us better, and you're not going to find stud centers in that area either.

I disagree because Thabeet fills our biggest need which is a shot-blocking presence in the middle and now Terrence can play and is gonna make some serious noise.

you can dream as much as you can. by the end of one or two years, you will see the rox doesn't include Thabeet anymore. he is bust. he can block but if he can't get on the court his block skill is useless.

Darko was a bust for a while and now he is playing very well in Minnesota.

I'm hoping for the best with Thabeet.

I don't know if we could have gotten them, but it's disappointing not to get proven players. I would have been happy with Perkins and Green. Wallace for Yao's expiring plus Bud/Ish would have ok with me.

Could someone break down the 1st's we now possess? The year, the protections, and from who?

    Thanks.

Brooks+Battier for Deron Williams make more sense.
