Sad day here for us die-hard Rockets fans. I first noticed him when I was in the 8th grade and he torched us one game when he was with the Grizzlies and then the next season he was with the Rockets. Throughout high school as I played basketball and watched the Rockets, Shane Battier was always up there as one of my fave players with his tenacity on defense and the leadership he brought to the team. He'll truly be missed by me as this pretty much marks a new era in Rockets basketball

i really wish this trade didn't have to happen. i will really miss his defensive intensity and the way he plays his game. he is a great defensive player and a great shooter from the outside. he is also a hard worker and does a lot for the community. i really will miss him as a Houston Rocket but will still follow him.

Sorry to see you go Shane. You missed shots and drove me nuts at times. But I was hoping you would retire in the Red.

Best of luck accept against the Rockets.

One of my favorite Rockets of all time.

I'll be voting for him when he runs for President.

Morey seems to have panicked and had to do a trade for the sake of trading. I will be waiting for the thread evaluating the moves of Morey "The Panicman"

I'm really going to miss Shane. He was such a hard worker and consummate team player and leader. I hope to see him on the Rox sidelines soon as a coach.

I wish we would sign him back on next season...though I doubt it. One of my favorite Rockets ever.

Come back, Shane! Don't sell your house. We need you to retire a Rocket, and stay in this community.

Not Miami! I can't root for that team.

I don't like the Memphis trade at all. Sad to see Shane go. I hope he signs with us this summer.
