Chicago is close to aquiring Courtney Lee (UPDATE: Not close, Rockets want big man)

The freaking Bulls are cheap. They tried to offer Memphis Kyle Korver and draft picks for Mayo. HAHAHA.. How about we offer them Brad Miller and draft picks for Noah..lmaoo..I'm glad the Rockets and Grizzlies are shutting out the bulls. We'll see if the bulls budge at the last second and Morey ends up raping them for Asik and Charlotte's 1st Rounder. I can dream, right?

How the F is giving up Omer Asik for Lee a "CAVING" by the Bulls? Omer averages 3 ppg? not even 1 bpg? Hes a 7 foot 255 pound bust. If this trade happens... Forfeit.

 

Good, trade Brooks and Battier instead... Give minutes to T-will since he's "been here longer" than anyone that Rockets trade for.

The guy only plays 10 minute a game how much do you want, break thought out over a real starters minutes and he has decent stats.

replace Lee with Mayo, by trading Brooks to memphis!!!!!

 

...if you take the long view of this, Morey has Lee under contract for 2 years - you have to think Morey will get those picks AND Asik if he just sits on Lee and waits until after Chicago get's exploited at the SG spot in the playoffs this year. The trad deadline in 5 minutes isn't the "blink" moment.

 

Hate to bring this thread back but this is a great point. Rockets have Lee for 2 more years at reasonable money and if you couple that with the idea he might just be hitting his groove as a professional, his value will only go up. I know Morey MAY HAVE made the mistake of holding Brooks one offseason too long, but I think getting a few late first rounder vs what he might command in the offseason or next trade deadline is well woth the gamble.

Agreed. Sounds like they were offering CHA + CHI/MIA 1st rounders instead.

 

Absolutely agree, Would have been fair value. Lee is solid all the way around, glad he's still here.

 

It kind of makes you wonder what would have happened had Chicago actually given in.

 

We would have had Asik, which I would have much prefered, and a much better 1st round pick compared to what we ended up with. Battier would likely be playing for another team, perhaps Boston, which had been mentioned as a possibility prior to the deadline. Brooks might have still been dealt. In fact, I would have bet that he would be. In short, we would have lost Lee (which I didn't want), Battier, and Brooks, but got a better return and we still might have Ish Smith. All my opinion, of course.

 

If that's true, I disagree with Daryl. Lee for Asik seems fair to me.
