i understand but to what extent? Gortat played like 10 mins a game and it seemed they valued him higher than anyone but Howard.

Its just mind boggling how the game is changing to more athletic centers yet guys like Asik are valued so highly.

Bulls front office is very conservative.... plus Asik has potential to be a plus defender, plays hard and tries hard. He has really good size as well.

Bulls will give in if they really want Lee. Their coach really wants him since he coached him in Orlando.

Bulls are negotiating...they're creating perceived value...trying to make Asik more desirable in the heat of the negotiation with the clock ticking than he might be otherwise. They know if they want Lee, they can have him for a guy we'd all shrug at.

There is a reason that apparently Gortat was valued so high. Ever since he has been getting playing time in PHX he has been solid. If you look at his stats from 01/19 on he has been close to a double double each game. In the past 30 days he has averaged 14 points and 9.9 rebounds a game. That's pretty solid in my opinion.

I think the lack of skilled big men has really drove up the value of everyone, but at the same time some of these guys just don't get the playing time necessary to show what they have.

That whole 24 seconds he played last night made more of an impact than if Lee played 30 minutes.

you do realize he was the backup center when Noah was out so he was playing behind Kurt Thomas since he is still learning. Noah came back last night which moved him down on the depth chart.

I wouldn't go that far to say he is a beast. He definitely has the ability to be good and a serviceable big man but to call him a beast is a bit of a stretch in my opinion. I have been defending him in this thread not because I think he is a sure fire hit but he is decent as a big and would only take him if the deal was right. But to go beast level? Not so much.

Yeah but the thing is? They cant win a Championship without Coutrny Lee type player starting. We dont need a backup big that bad because we are not competing. They are in the position of weakness because we are not competing. We can keep what we need for rebuilding. They need the parts right now to compete this year.
