Dude, Brooks was just most improved player. are you seriously trying to make the case that Flynn is better? Flynn ...an unproven 2nd year player that is shooting 41% from the field and is 5'11"? really?
Are you serious? He had a good rookie season last year and has been hurt most of this year. He is young and has a ton of upside (more than Brooks for sure).
Brooks now sucks. So much for past awards. He's a cancer here and needs to go. Minni is also giving us a 1st round pick. Flynn has more all around skill than Brooks. Faster, stronger, better at Defense and younger with more upside.
No. He's an undersized pg who can't shoot. He's terrible and will be out of the league in 3 years. He doesn't have any upside
As much as I don't want to agree with this statement, I think that it is true. I hope he can turn it around but I am not sure if that this is the best place for him.
Are you related to Flynn? All of your posting today is just full of absolute crap. None of this is based in fact -- particularly the "cancer" label on Brooks. Just please STFU already.
His rookie season was horrid. He was by far the worst point guard playing major minutes last year. And now he isn't playing major minutes and wasn't when he was healthy. On a team with a Ridnour/Telfair PG rotation.
(repeated from Battier thread) He's not known at all for his defense. In fact, the profiles of him prior to his draft sound eerily like the Aaron Brooks we all know and love. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Jonny-Flynn-1245/ __________________
The question isn't whether Flynn is better than Brooks...the questions need to be: 1. does Flynn make this team any better; and 2. could we get something better for Brooks. I don't know the answer to question 2. But I have a difficult time believing that a 5'11" PG with a reputation for being awful on the defensive end is going to help the Houston Rockets, as they are currently comprised. If Kevin Martin is gonna be in this backcourt, you need to be looking for a PG who can play alongside him that isn't a card-carrying member of the NBA's Lollipop Guild.
And Brooks is an undersized, disgruntled point guard that can't defend or effectively distribute the rock. He's already reached his ceiling, and may walk in free agency. Flynn had an impressive rookie season, and still has room to grow. He's a true point guard, and is only 22 years old. Make the deal, Morey.
For this reason alone, I'd do the trade. Flynn isn't going to sulk when he doesn't get to start or even get significant PT, though I could see TWill sulking more if Flynn gets more PT than him.
I am actually a fan of the Flynn trade as long as we get equal value. as far as Flynn is concerned,he is as much of a leader as battier, he just doesn't do the intangible things like battier. Plus we don't really him to produce at a high level as a backup, as long as he pushes the tempo and find open man, which is pretty much the same way brooks is being effective right now.
Chad Ford: They're trying like crazy. Morey has been one of the most active GMs over the last month. He made a big push for Carmelo Anthony. Tried to pry Deron Williams away from Utah. Made an aggressive play for second tier players like Nene and Danny Granger. Even went after the Kings' Samuel Dalembert. So far, he's come up empty. Wednesday evening a number of GMs reported receiving multiple texts/calls from Morey proposing trades -- some big, some small, some outlandish. "Everyone on their team is up for grabs," one Western Conference GM told ESPN.com. "Everyone." Over the course of the last 24 hours, we're hearing the Rockets getting involved in smaller targets like Jonny Flynn and Hasheem Thabeet. I'd be shocked if something didn't happen
