Wow. So much for the theory that KT won't be able to hand with the 3's of the league on the defensive side. He covered and harassed Tmac as well as someone could. Blocked a jump shot by Tmac that was just sick. Denied Grant Hill on a dunk. Had a couple of nice steals also I believe. His body frame is perfect to defend the small forwards of the league. I am glad we never traded this guy and hope we are able to resign him next year. KT, Mo and Griffin are all different types of players and we would benefit greatly by keeping all three.
That's good to hear. How did he look offensively against T-Mac? I'm glad our team seems deep this year. With all this bad news, I'm not too worried. I think we'll still compete. Bad news: How long does a fractured thumb take to heal??? http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/story.hts/sports/bk/bkn/1625841 Thomas hurt Just when the Rockets finally were ready to add a celebrated player to the mix, they lost one who already was a valuable starter. Starting forward Kenny Thomas fractured his right thumb blocking a dunk attempt by Grant Hill. He will be X-rayed again in a week, but could be out for the start of the regular season Oct. 30. "It's another big blow with Kenny being out," Rockets coach Rudy Tomjanovich said. "I don't know when he's going to be ready. That's a big setback, especially with Mo (Taylor) not playing the first five games (while serving his suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy). Just what we didn't need." With the regular season starting in nine days, Tomjanovich said it was unclear whether Thomas could be back in time. "I went up to block that dunk by Grant Hill and the momentum took it back to the rim," Thomas said. "I think I've been playing OK. There's a lot of things I do. I'm down because I can't play for the preseason. If it was the regular season it would be a lot worse. Thank God it wasn't more serious."
They hurt Kenny....those bastards!!! that was an AWESOME block. Hill was screaming at the rim on a transition play with a tomahawk and Kenny blocked that with no fear. This wasn't a swat from the side. It was a stuff block that just dropped that tomahawk. Takes a lot of strength to do that. That is a fitting injury for the Raging Bull. KT rocks!!! TMac did not guard Kenny...he guarded Mobley. All the teams so far are switching defense on us versus who we guard them with. Kenny is creating problems. He schooled Hill on the low block a couple of times.
Damn, that is terrible news....especially with Mo out the first five games. Eddie will have to play big and keep out of foul trouble....a lineup of Yao with Cato at certain stretches? Collier gets his chance.... Go Eddie! Get better KT....Get smarter Mo Taylor
This is awful.KT is an invaluable asset for us. I dislike the pre-season because it exposes players to unnecessary injuries.
I can't say better about KT's defense than you guys did. So I will proceed to saying that KT does ROCK! And I'm glad we chose to keep him. The Raging Bull!
I am waiting to hear Jeff's take on how KT is playing defense on those SF's, seeing that I have not seen it myself, all the way here in CT. There are two things about injuries: 1. you must have depth so you do not lose 15 in a row; and 2. there are always dividends to be reaped like Ming and the accelerated development of younger players. In this case, thankfully we have the depth to withstand the loses, so far; and we will bring Boki and Ming along, quicker. Opening day's rotation looks like this Cato, EG, Rice, Wink, Mobes, Ming, Collier, Boki, Brown and OT.
LOL, we lost T-Mo, KT, and Moochie. Last year, if we lost those 3, we'd have Tierre at the 1, Langhi at the 3 (Griffin at the 4), and no backup F's other than Torres. This year, we have Griffin at the 4, probably backed up by a combination of Ming, Collier, Cato and Rice, while Francis will be at the PG position, and Rice will start at the 3. I LOVE depth. KT is becoming more useless to this team every day. By the time MoT comes back from injury, Griffin will have a whole preseason and 5 games of at least 30 minutes in the real season. KT is becoming more and more expendable.
KT is just so quick nowdays. A couple of times I saw this "un -familiar" Rocket skying for a block or a rebound and wondered who it was. It was KT. the guy is definitely quick enough for most of the threes. Still rebounds like a four. We need KT. Yao Ming, KT and Eddie is a great defensive , rebounding front line. I only wonder if it is enough offense. We do, however, have Rice and Maurice for instant offense.
This is awful news. KT has been impressive so far. That block of Hill was awesome..and he did a good job harrassing TMac. I would love to find a way to keep him beyond this year. Now if someone could talk him into passing every once in a while, everything would be good. Not to be ZRB-like, but does anyone else get the feeling that the injury bug is biting a little early this year?
The reason KT gets so many minutes and IS NOT EXPENDABLE...He beats out the competition. Without KT this team is not as good.
'Damn!' on Kenny's injury, he's been the best player on the team so far with the exception of Cat. I hope he heals fast. On another note, what does that mean for the PF rotation now? Mo has to serve his suspension, TMo is out. Will Cato see some time at PF?
SANE: HEY! STOP ME IF YOU HEARD THIS BEFORE ROCKETS FANS: WE HEARD IT!! WE HEARD IT ALREADY!!! . . . btw . . YOU'RE WRONG!!! KT ROCKS!!!! Rocket River
KT was injured and Mo Taylor is suspended first five games, we are definitely going to need someone to backup Eddie. Like said above it will have to be a group effort of Rice, Collier, and Cato at PF. This is kind of bitter sweet. Thinking about it now, this could really push Eddie into that starting lineup for good if he performs as he has. I couldn't tell if Rudy was going to give EG the start or not but now he has to. After five games off of the suspension, I doubt highly Mo Taylor will be in the starting lineup, should be our 6th man IMHO. This is great news becuase Eddie is a terror and will breakout this year.
We have a SF with bad knees and a PF that is comming off a blown achilles, and dipsticks still say that Kenny is expendable. Kenny is exactly the type of player that helps carry you deep into the payoffs. He is good at two positions and hustles. He is insurance and starter quality on many teams. You don't let a guy like that go. Period. He has also been a pretty healthy player (where it counts, knees, feet, and shoulders). You are going to be hard pressed to get equal value in return for him. Kenny stays and I don't want to see another post about him being expendable.
