Which one do you find more entertaining?

Do you enjoy high flying acrobatics dunks that we've seen in years past mixed in with some props? Or do you prefer to watch how high and far a player can hit a ball?

Just thought I'd get some insight on the boards preference and why they enjoy whatever you pick.

I personally enjoy both but if I had to pick one it would be the dunk contest just because it usually will have you at the edge of your seat hoping for something exciting to happen. I do enjoy players also hitting a baseball out of the park in an open stadium and seeing your favorite sluggers go head to head.

Dunk Contest. I put Home Run Derby even with the 3 Point Contest

MLB All-Star game is the more true GAME compared to the NBA All Star game.

Home Run Derby is cool when one of your favorite players is in it. Its usually the REAL STARS in it, not the best collection of sluggers from around the league. Like how the Dunk Contest is randomly chosen participants.

Would have chosen the HR Derby back when the players were still on roids and guys like Sosa and McGwire were hitting the ball 500+ feet with regularity. Now I guess I'd say the dunk contest, but I think both are kind of dumb.

I imagine sitting back, sipping on beer and munching on some pub mix while a long lineup of power hitters just smack a ball out of the park for a while is much more relaxing than having to be on the edge of your seat and watching guys be on the verge of making stellar dunks and missing them every now and then. Plus, the Derby is all numbers, whereas the dunk contest is based on a human element deciding the scores.

Dunks just aren't very impressive to me anyway, even the novelty ones... I mean, HRs aren't impressive when they're in a derby, but at least you get more of them and can sit back and just watch 'em fly.

yeah because all MLB teams pitch all of their pitchers and pull every single one of their starters in a game.

there is NO question that, overall, players care more about the outcome of the All Star Game in MLB than NBA.

That was supposed to be an aside, not the main talk.

Dunk contest has become a joke. Home Run derby is still awesome to watch.

How can you forget Tejada and Berkman slugging it out in Minute Maid

[Josh Hamilton youTube video] That's exciting?

In the Home Run Derby's defense, MLB hasn't begun to allow using cars, capes, two home plates, etc., that you wouldn't otherwise be able to use in a regular game... like the joke of a contest that is the NBA's Slam Dunk has allowed. Come on, now, do what you can only do in a REAL game.

Gotta take it in context. In the clip posted, it appeared at first that he had hit the ball out of Yankee Stadium (which had only been done twice in the stadium's history, including batting practice, and I don't think there were any definitive witnesses in either case). Plus, it was the last season at Yankee Stadium, you had Hamilton's whole back story, and he hit 28 home runs in one round. It was pretty ridiculous.

I watched the dunk contest this year, and remembered why I usually don't. It's pretty boring to watch all the failed attempts. The homerun derby makes for better television. On the other hand, the dunk contest makes for better highlights.

I think I'd rather watch an episode of Wipeout. More action and Jill Wagner.

Dunk contests have the higher highs, but the lower lows....

Home run derby is what it is. I've never watched a HRD and walked away saying how r****ded it was (like more than 1 dunk contest)...but the event/results have never stuck with me past changing the channel.

I'll take the chance for greatness over settling for consistent mediocrity. Slam dunk contest for sure!
