The thing is, the Rockets aren't trying to win it all with those guys as their #1 option. They are trying to add pieces to the puzzle so that when the opportunity presents itself, they can buy a star player. It obviously hasn't been successful so far, but I think getting a guy like Wallace (even though it's looking like it's not going to happen) can be a step on the right track. This team's assets are weak right now (outside of Martin... Scola's BYC this season makes it too tough to trade him)... so bringing in Wallace on the cheap gives the Rockets the opportunity to upgrade those assets a little bit. If they can bring in another piece (like Wallace) right now and keep drafting well, they'll be able to add that player they are looking for soon. Throwing all caution to the wind and trading away everything they have isn't the way to go right now.
To be honest, though, if Wallace going to Portland means Batum is possibly tradable... then I think he would be an even better piece to add.
Reloaded with what? Reloading is getting another good player back, what the Pistons did a few years abck with Billups for Iverson is reloading. Getting Harris a starter but nothing special, a top 5 pick who has not impressed many, and a 2011 1st round AND another 2012 first round while giving up your All-star PG sounds like rebuilding for me. If Favors or their 2011 pick from the nets doesn't work out they will be right where the T'wolves and so many other teams are right now. That's the problem...then why do we keep doing it? This is exactly the reason why the Texans are what they are, they keep doing the same thing time and time again before finally realizing that 'This isn't working...' wasting years of our time. I think it's better to as they say 'Know when to hold em, Know when to fold em...' Any ways we'll see 24 hrs from now, I think the Rockets will make rebuilding moves. At least I hope. The likes of Nene, Wallace are for teams wanting to get better and go into contending status. Not for young teams like the Rockets. Getting Wallace is more like trying to rebuild that Piston team, but even still that team was a exception to what usually wins championships, not the rule.
That stuff only helped man if true. Dwill did not want to be traded to the Nets. All reports indicated this. If you take a look at the standings you can see that the Jazz are only one game away from being OUT of the playoffs. If you take a look at the Jazz forums you can see...THROUGHOUT the forum that Deron wasn't some super player adored by all fans. It was split and many of them didn't think he was a true franchise guy for whatever reason. You can say the Sloan thing but you have no proof of that. Whats clear to see though is that they are the 8th seed right now. WITH DERON. If you're so called superstar is only good enough to get you the 8th seed it's time to think about trading him. Even Tmac on one leg with no Yao did better than that.
Looks like there's still a chance ... <!-- http://twitter.com/dwightjaynes/statuses/40554057223376896 --> <style type='text/css'>.bbpBox40554057223376900 {background:url(http://a3.twimg.com/a/1297446951/images/themes/theme4/bg.gif) #0099B9;padding:20px;} p.bbpTweet{background:#fff;padding:10px 12px 10px 12px;margin:0;min-height:48px;color:#000;font-size:18px !important;line-height:22px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px} p.bbpTweet span.metadata{display:block;width:100%;clear:both;margin-top:8px;padding-top:12px;height:40px;border-top:1px solid #fff;border-top:1px solid #e6e6e6} p.bbpTweet span.metadata span.author{line-height:19px} p.bbpTweet span.metadata span.author img{float:left;margin:0 7px 0 0px;width:38px;height:38px} p.bbpTweet a:hover{text-decoration:underline}p.bbpTweet span.timestamp{font-size:12px;display:block}</style> <div class='bbpBox40554057223376900'><p class='bbpTweet'>repeat... as far as I know, the deal is NOT done yet. Hell yes, Although I don't think Dwill is leading you to the promised land by himself, what he does do is make your team more attractive to potential FA players like Dwight Howard and whoever else gets tired of their team.
I'd imagine D-Will will be on the trading block this time next year, but NJ really didn't give up all that much for him considering.
What's the Rockets best offer for Wallace? They liked T-Will in 09; do they now? Would Jeffries, Brooks and T-Will get it done?
I thought it would have got the job done, because all Charlotte wanted was expiring contracts. One from Battier/Jefferies And couple of fillers like T-Will/Bud/Brooks or a pick I believed we were in better position than Portland to grab him.
I think so too, they have to make another big move during the draft season or early next year if not they are going to have the same Carmelo mess with Dwill wanting a trade and with a list of teams he'll want to go to.
MJ's not gonna have a good rep around the league if he does this again. Did the same thing with the Chandler trade.
