I was watching the Saints/49ers game, and I heard the announcer say that Brooks and Vick are cousins. I thought that was kinda neat, especially since they play the same position.

Are there any more relatives in the pro sports?

Hmm... I remember reading it on ESPN after Griffin was drafted, so I assumed it was legit. Maybe they were off, though...

They're not cousins, but if you want a Rocket connection, I believe Kenny Smith and Kenny Anderson are cousins (or so I've heard in the past). Lamond and Tracey Murray I think are cousins, too.

    From the Houston Chronicle :

    ------------------------------------------------

The Rockets' game at Milwaukee offered a chance for rookie Eddie Griffin to play against "cousin" Tim Thomas for the first time. There was just one problem with the family reunion: Griffin and Thomas are not related.

"We've heard that we were cousins for a few years now," Griffin said. "It's pretty funny. We've talked about it. But we're not related."

Griffin played for Thomas' AAU team in Philadelphia, and the two worked out together last summer.

"We're good friends," Thomas said. "It's been fun for me to see him grow from childhood superstar to NBA player. I'm happy for him. He's definitely going to be a great player. If people want to say we're cousins, that's all right."

There are quite a few in hockey. The most famous would probably be the Sutter brothers, Brian, Duane, Daryl, Brent, Rich and Ron. None of them play anymore, but two of them are head coaches in the league.

Of course Gordie Howe played on a line with his two sons, Mark and Marty, for the Houston Aeros in the WHA. In the NHL Peter Stastny played on a line with his brothers Marion and Anton for a while.
