My 1st team......Don't know much about the O-lines, could use some help there, and the last Defensive Lineman. QB: Seneca Wallace RB: Chris Brown RB: Quentin Griffin WR: Justin Gage WR: Rashaun Woods TE: Trent Smith OL: Derrick Dockery OL: OL: OL: OL: K: Luke Phillips KR: Antonio Perkins DL: Ty Warren DL: Antwan Bynum DL: Tommie Harris DL: LB: Jarrod Penright LB: Teddy Lehman LB: DJ Johnson DB: Derrick Strait DB: Andre Woolfolk DB: Nathan Vasher DB: Terence Newman P: Mark Mariscal PR: Dejuan Groce Most surprising team Iowa State. Only 2 losses, and both were to top 4 teams at the time that they played them. No one expected them to be this good, and they would contend for the north if not for their schedule. MVP Seneca Wallace or Kliff Kingsbury. These guys are both one-man teams, and both are 2 of the top QB's in the country. Coach of the Year so far A tie between Bob Stoops and Dan McCarney. If not for getting waxed today, this would go to McCarney, hands down. Freshman of the year Brad Smith- Missouri. He's already a top 3 qb in the Big 12 as a freshman....this kid is scary. He almost single-handedly beat the #2 team in the country. How I think the season will end up Oklahoma: 11-1, although they could finish undefeated. Texas: 10-2 Iowa State: 9-4 Kansas State: 9-3 Texas A&M: 8-4 Texas Tech: 6-7 Colorado: 8-4 Kansas: 2-11 Oklahoma State: 5-7 Baylor: 4-9 Missouri: 5-7 Nebraska: 7-6 Big XII championship Oklahoma- 34 Kansas State- 17
I'd take Wes Welker over Justin Gage. and you have to have Dakarai Pearson in the secondary... maybe even Johnson out of Kansas where's Cory Redding? put him on the line. i don't know anything about o-lines either, except screw adding any Texas guys. as for kicker, i'd take the ISU guy... perfect on XPs and high percentage on FGs edit: i think OU and TX win out the rest of the regular season (not counting conference championship and bowl games)
My Opinion Dvorecek is better than Harris. And I think Tubbs is better than both. But if an OU DL has to be put on there, make it Dvorecek or Wilkerson(or pretend the defense is a 3-4). and Lance Mitchell should be in there over Lehman. Babers over Vasher. Redding on the DL too. and Sproles over Griffin. Offensive Player of the Year - Wallace, Duh. Defensive Player of the Year - Ty Warren so far. But not enough of an edge to say so authoritatively Offensive Freshman of the Year - Brad Smith, double duh. Defensive Freshman of the Year - Rodrique Wright. Offensive Newcomer of the Year - Can't think of any right now. Defensive Newcomer of the Year - Lance Mitchell Coach of the Year - Dan McCarney, with Stoops and Pinkel as close runners up.
Oklahoma: 11-1 Texas: 10-3 Texas A&M: 10-3 Texas Tech: 8-5 Oklahoma State: 5-7 Baylor: 3-9 Kansas State: 9-3 Iowa State: 9-4 Nebraska: 8-5 Colorado: 7-5 Missouri: 4-8 Kansas: 2-11 OU over KSU
wow, a 2-11 team makes the Big 12 championship game? in the immortal words of Allen Iverson... "Hah he do dat?"
Hands down Dan McCarney is coach of the year. I don't think today's game should take anything away from the job he's done this year. Iowa State is still in the race for the Big 12 North title in October. Would anyone have predicted it at the beginning of the season? The biggest disappointment is 3 loss Nebraska. Last year, Pasadena. This year, Shreveport. OU is head and shoulders above everyone in the conference. OU will win the South. CU is in the driver's seat in the North, but still has to play Iowa State and Oklahoma. With tonight's loss, K-State is done in the North although they have a game with Iowa State. Iowa State still needs to play CU, K-State, and Texas. The North is up for grabs. My prediction: OU over (north champion)...if I have to guess, I'll go with CU.
Hate to tell everyone, but Texas probably won't lose another game, much less two. It looks like last game may have had more to do with how freaking good OU is playing and not a reflection of Texas. KSU is a very good team, especially at home, and for Texas to go in there and win (in a close game, too) shows a lot about the program. We will not lose to ISU at home, we will not lose to Nebraska anywhere, and I have my doubts that Tech or A&M give us too much of a scare. Everyone, IMO, is clearly underrating Colorado. They struggled to start the season, but they have turned it on now, and if they keep playing the way they are now I think there's a chance that they could run the table. (yes, I know they play OU) That team is legit... it just took them a bit to get going. It did last year as well. Also, duke, I don't think there's too much of a competition for MVP. Kingsbury's numbers are nice, but when he's played a real defense (Ohio St.), that offense has looked terrible. Wallace did struggle today, but he did play a couple of good teams (FSU) early on where he performed well.
I was impressed with Texas. The team could have folded after Simms threw that pick (on the first play after Jackson recovered a KSU fumble). The player of the game should have been Dusty Mangum. btw, KSU's Dunnigan sucks. I remember him having a late pass intereference penalty against CU. Instead of punting, CU got a first down. Then tonight he got done several times by BJ Johnson. Also, I find it annoying when Lapham calls BJ, BJ Thomas
Player of the game has to be a tie. Mangum certainly hit a clutch kick, but for Simms to make that 30 yard throw (on the money) while getting absolutely crushed by the blitz... awesome. Truthfully, the play that may have turned this game around was the 15 yard personal foul facemask on KSU. For the first time in ages, we finally got the field position in our favor, and that set up the throw. Also, props to BJ for finally showing up this season... it's about time.
Why does an OU DL have to be there? If you're gonna pick, don't pick Wilkerson; e's sucked this year.
mduke, please talk about the rockets. There are many players that you missed from the big twelve lineup, but to miss Roy Williams is just rediculus. At this point, I hesitate to respect anything you say that is not about the rockets. Learn a little more about big twelve and please redeem yourself. I believe in you.
i don't think roy williams has played well enough to deserve a spot. If I were to pick a Texas receiver, I'd pick B.J. While Roy has the greatest talent in the Big12, he hasn't utilized it to put up big numbers this year. Maybe due to his injury, but he has looked lackadaisical on the field this year, as was evident in his noneffort in an overthrow by Simms in last night's game. A guy with the talent of Williams should have been able to at least get his hands on the ball, but he didn't even try.
Roy has done what this year? Oh yeah, nothing! He is not even in the top 3 this year......Woods, Gage and Welker are all playing better. Talk about selfserving Hehe, you're funny. You can't argue about Griffin, Woolf, or Strait.....oh wait, you'd probably put Cedric Heisman in there, right?
I'd put Babers over Vasher for sure. Williams is the best receiver in the Big XII, but does not deserve to be on the list because he hasn't done too much this year. I don't know how you could say BJ was the best UT receiver. He had some nice catches last game, but before that he was sucking pretty bad. Sloan was doing much better. The Cat--I hope you're right about us not losing anymore, but I'm not sure. Thankfully we did throw downfield a little more, and that TD call to David Thomas is the kind of stuff everyone was complaining about Davis not doing. So there were some good signs, but there still were plenty of bad plays called. Also, I'm concerned about Benson's toe and our running game. This KSU game was a huge lift though and you could see by Mack and the team's reaction that it was. It was nice to see Mack getting angry and more involved. I was so freaking scared the last 3 minutes...
The Thomas TD was exactly the same as the one vs. Tulane, but I agree we did take more shots down the field. The one play TD pass to BJ was awesome. I'm not too concerned about Benson cause of Young. It was disgusting hearing exactly what turf toe is so I hope Benson gets better fast. Big win. If KSU had a decent FG kicker, the game would have gone into overtime. It was a defensive struggle. Dusty Mangum should get the gameball.
You put him over Rashaun Woods? Wow......I can't believe how people under-estimate Woods, just because he's on a bad team. He single-handedly beat the #2 team last year
