Not sure the rebuilding Nets would want a 30 year old Scola. I think it would take something more along the lines of Brooks, Hill and Patterson for Lopez, Petro (bad contract) and the return of our 2012 pick, to get it done. Everyone seems to forget that Favors was the #3 pick in a deep draft.
I think that's the point thought, the Nets don't want to rebuild, at least that's the vibe Prokhorov seems to be giving off
YES! AND..............they would take scola as soon as we made him available...@damunkster.......like the deal ,although im not sold on favors and would trade him.
Favors? Really? You would give up one of our leading scorers and rebounders, and a guy that plays great TEAM basketball, for a guy that many are now starting to consider a bust? Favors = Kwame Brown. Seriouisly. Lot's a potential but he doesn't have the offensive game to be a threat in the NBA. And, he's only 6'9" so he doesn't fill our greatest need which is at center. Think about it. Why would the Nets consider trading him if he had so much potential. If he had THAT much potential I suspect he would be averaging more than 6 points a game while playing 20 minutes a night.
First of all, whats with you people? If a 19yr old rookie doesn't produce immediately in limited minutes his immediately considered a bust!?! Thats complete idiocy! Second of all, a more reasonable reason as to why the Nets might consider trading him maybe has to do with them wanting to become a playoff team, and immediately sell tickets when they move to Brooklyn in a year or so. A rebuilding team wont get you that... Third of all, your wrong about his height, his 6'10.25(in shoes, which is the one that matters) and most importantly has a 7'4 wingspan, in addition to his elite athleticism.
Favors is 19 and in his rookie year it's too early to be calling him a bust. He fills our greatest need in getting at shot blocker WITH a lot of upside. He has the potential to be a star and we need a rim protector on this team.
And you guys thought AB's stock was super low. I read that the Heat are after him. Chalmers, Pittmen, and a 2nd round pick for AB.
I'm sure Wade, Bosh, and LBJ would love him looking them off and jacking up a jumper instead. Their best back-court combo is Wade and Miller.
Favors is currently averaging 11.6 pts and 9.8 rebounds per 36 minutes of action. To you that means that he doesn't have that much potential? Let's compare some other players rookie years: Derrick Favors 11.6 pts/36 min Andrew Bynum 7.6 pts/36 min Chris Bosh 12.3 pts/36 min Joe Johnson 10.9 pts/36 min Joakim Noah 11.5 pts/36 min Rashard Lewis 11.7 pts/36 min Jason Terry 12.5 pts/36 min Tony Parker 11.2 pts/36 min David West 10.6 pts/36 min How does he stack up against some of the better rebounders? Derrick Favors 9.8 reb/36 min Chris Bosh 8.0 reb/36 min Joakim Noah 9.8 reb/36 min Dennis Rodman 10.3 reb/36 min Kevin Garnett 7.9 reb/36 min Based on history it's extremely foolish to give up on a talented 19 year old with that kind of athleticism. Of couse, NJ probably won't move him unless they are able to get an all-star in return.
the same 1st rounder that we traded to the Nets to get T Will? I guess it could be a Changed my mind type trade lol
First you can't call somebody a bust through the first half of their rookie career...Second would i give up scola to also get a center, hells ya...scola wont get any better and we get lopez who does fill our center need.
The problem is, Favors looks absolutely clueless out there at times...completely failing to recognize defensive assignment switches...i you thought Scola was terrible at defending the PnR wait till you watch him. Per 36 numbers are the weathermen of the NBA stats department...sometimes they are right but most of the time its all just speculation.
