Orlando will have Armstrong, Billups, and Dee Brown in their guard rotation. They have (or will have) Hill, McGrady, Outlaw, and Garrity at the SF position. Doleac and Amaechi will share time at the center position. They are, however, about to lose Wallace and Atkins.

What happens to Mike Miller and Matt Harpring?

If Houston cannot sign Croshere, why not trade for the next best thing -- Mike Miller? But what can Houston offer an already-solid Orlando team? Cap space and a low post presence.

The trade exception and Thomas could get us Miller and Harpring.

    Go for it!

I'm Sure Orlando Is listening to the Rockets with our trade Exception. They're having trouble signing Both Hill and McGrady and now they want Mo Taylor.....That Exception may help us get our hands on that...plus we can give them back some of the future picks they owe us.......i think there could be something to this!!

I think Orlando would like the exception, but I hear they're tryin to get MO Taylor. In fact, they want the exception TO get Mo Taylor. But the trade would be nice as long as Orlando uses Kenny T. in a backup role.

    same thing I was thinking

What's this Harpring guy like? I might prefer Doleac, but like you pointed out, Orlando is not as deep at center.

My understanding is that Harpring might have to be thrown into the sign-and-trade to get Hill, if in fact they do the sign and trade instead of sign him outright. If not, that sounds good.

Even it Harpring is going to Detroit, Orlando still doesn't need Miller with the guys they've got. How about draft picks for Miller? Have they signed Miller yet? If so, I don't think they can trade him for awhile, can they?

I doubt Harpring's in the Detroit deal. A sign and trade (a sign and trade, sign and trade, sign and trade) of Ben Wallace/Chucky Atkins for Hill seems very likely, as Wallace and Atkins committed to Detroit, and Hill committed to Orlando.

Orlando plans on keeping Miller, Harpring, and Doleac unless they MUST be traded. With Wallace leaving, that's unlikely.

    Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.

The only reason I said that NIKE is because of what I read on nbatalk.com. Perhaps not likely, but possible:

Magic to the Max. Now that the smoke has cleared and the Magic know they are losing Ben Wallace and Chucky Atkins, NBAtalk has learned that the Magic and Pistons have begrudgingly settled on a sign-and-trade deal. The Magic will get Grant Hill (who can now resign with his own team and get the ultimate MAX) and the Pistons will get a resigned Ben Wallace, Chucky Atkins (around $8 million for 4 years) and Matt Harpring in return. According to a source close to the Magic, if the sign-and-trade goes down, Wallace will get a 6 year, $30 million dollar contract. The contract will also have several incentive bonus that could easily raise that figure by as much as a $1 million dollars a year. Despite reports that Orlando balked at the money Wallace was asking for, the same source told NBAtalk that Orlando was willing to pay Wallace the $5 million a year, however the Magic couldn't make a firm promise that they could get under the cap. Had they been unable to, the Magic would have been forced to renounce Wallace, and Wallace would have lost his Bird rights.

How about a trade of KT + exception for Miller & Outlaw. Would that work? Could it work?

I read on another thread that the Rocks & Magic have had discussions about trading Outlaw & the exception.

Houston has a solid PF: Cato.

They should focus on a center. I like Doleac's toughness and perimeter game. If Orlando already signed Miller and with the potential of Langhi, Houston should trade for Doleac.

Exception, Collier, and Washington for Doleac and Harpring.

I was under the impression that Orlando needed some more space for the purpose of signing OUtlaw, seeing as Wallace left. They cant just play with TMac and HIll you know. But I do think a trade might be imminent. If we get OUtlaw, even better. I dont really know if I would be jumping for joy at the prosepct of getting Miller, though, as I think Langhi is a similar player and a steal in the second round. Id be more interested in trying to pry MArcus Fizer away from Chicago.

I believe Langhi will be just as good as Mike Miller. I have heard that Langhi was a poor man's Mike Miller, but I would put money that Langhi will be the more better and established player in 5 years. If the Magic were interested in the exception I would not balk at acquiring Miller from Orlando, but I would rather have Doleac if he was available.

I now looks like Orlando doesn't have the money to sign Mo Taylor after all. Depending on how bad they want him, maybe they will give a nice player to get some of our exception money. The only way I can see them letting go of Doleac is if they pick up someone like Brad Miller, and they be trying to do that. But it seems to be in place of picking up Taylor. Could help them get both. [IMG]

    From nbatalk.com:

According to Orlando Sentinel, LA Times: It might be Miller Time instead for the Magic. Maurice Taylor told the world yesterday that he wanted to play for the Magic, but as it turns out, Orlando may not have the money to sign him. They are estimating about $2 mil in cap space but Taylor is asking for twice as much after asking for the MAX $9 mil deal last year. In his place in discussions is Charlotte forward Brad Miller who met with GM John Gabriel yesterday.

If the Magic are 2 million under the cap, why can't they sign Mo to the max? Does a FA salary have to fit completely under the cap?

Yes no worries, you have to fit all of the salarie under the cap so right now all that orlando can offer Mo is 2 mill, but he is asking for 4 mill.

I also have a question for any capologist out there. When orlando traded maggete, etc to the clips they gave up more salary which LA was able to fit under the cap,but does that amount turns into a trade exeption for orlando or into more capspace?I thought since orlando was under the cap they would get more cap space but I recently read somewhere that Orl instead got an 8.5 mill trade exeption which would make this thread useless because we wouldnt free up any cap for them with a trade so why give us Miller.
