If I were Morey, there are 2 trades I'm trying to make right now...

    Yao for Nene and Harrington

This gives Denver a huge expiring contract and allows them to get rid of Harringtons big contract. This gives the Rockets a presence down low and a good player in Harrington.

Battier and Patterson for Gerald Wallace

This gives Charlotte not only an expiring in Battier but also a solid perimeter defender. Charlotte also nabs a young post in Patterson. Rockets are able to pick up Wallace, an underrated player imo. Wallace is a very good scorer, one of the best perimeter defenders, and an amazing rebounder. Upgrade over Battier and is also 4yrs younger than battier.

    This leaves the Rockets with...

    C: Nene/Hayes/Miller
    PF: Scola/Harrington/Hill
    SF: Wallace/Budinger/Jeffries
    SG: Martin/Lee/T-Will
    PG: Lowry/Brooks/Ish

That gives us a very solid team that I honestly believe could contend in the playoffs. And if not this year, then next year.

A Wallace trade would be so lame and boring but I guess it's better than nothing.

I don't think they can. We have more young talent + a better expiring contract (better in the sense that insurance is covering part of the $).

Cuban saying Roddy is 'untouchable' is just a ploy to drive up his value. He's got talent, but he's also a short PG that's proven absolutely nothing in the league so far. Dallas has no other young assets of value besides Roddy.

It also helps when their key players are healthy for at least 75% of the season. The Mavs also lost like 6 straight without Dirk if I'm not mistaken. Spurs struggle when they don't have Ginobili playing at or near 100%.

Adelman has coached the Rockets for over 300 games and TMac and Yao played in less than 80 of those together.

Rockets and Adelman just haven't had the luck of health on their side

We are gonna trade for someone who is not even being talked about being traded right now. Its gonna be from a team that is no longer in the playoff race and is looking to either rebuild or save a bunch of money (longterm).

it might be because i value h2h match up, but Wallace is the only one from tier 2 who can match it with the group from tier 1 consistently.

A "poison pill" contract is likely to be associated with it.

Im not very knowledgeable regarding the trade game, theres too much closed door talks, math, rumors, insider stuff etc for the average fan to even fathom at who we are getting. morey is smart, he may have some black marks as a GM but who hasnt. having said that i firmly believe that this man is smarter than some give him credit here (hes a ****ing GM for a reason: recognize), and sees what kinda boat the rockets are in. les, morey and the franchise get nothing for dropping out in the first round or even worse not making the playoffs. which is why we are in limbo, i think we are looking for that piece which we dont have. that young star to build around for years to come that is gonna rake in the dough and keep rocket fans buying tickets and merchandise. although we are still missing an essential piece to our team that we lost this season ie. yao.

nene and wallace would be good pieces to acquire temporarily since we lack a slasher to set things up and that big body in the middle; this may get us into the rd.1 of the playoffs. but overall we are still looking for that star piece. i believe this is why Adelman may be leaving our team, a great coach no doubt but i dont think hes down for reconstructing another team. he came here with intentions to win a championships and things went south, it happens but make no mistake that this team is about to change DRASTICALLY within the next couple of seasons. if we are looking long term, valuable players like martin, scola, brooks need to go if we can manage to get that star player (honestly id like to keep brooks)

but im just talking out my ars, this is what i see. long story short, im down for nene and wallace temporarily but as so many have said before, we need a franchise player.

GERALD WALLACE IS THE DREAM TARGET TO MOREY'S TRADE DEADLINE TARGETS THIS SEASON

HERE IS HOW I SEE IT:

1: THIS LEAVES US FREE FOR THE 2012 PLAN

Wallace has a player option for 10 million in 12-13. However he will be 30 years old by then and he would want to cash in on one last big contract. as seen with Richard Jefferson and the Spurs last summer, the Spurs had Jefferson opt out of his gigantic 15 million player option and signed him to a 4 year deal.

Morey will be looking to do the same. He will have Wallace use his ETO in 2012 and sign him to a cheaper long time deal. This will have us free to have capspace to chase big name free-agents like CP3 and DH12.

2: IT WON'T COST US MUCH TO GET HIM

What Charlotte wants in any deal right now is to save money. Michael Jordan is trying to keep his costs down head heading into a new collective bargaining agreement. He’s love to get good young players. But right now, not a lot of teams are giving up quality players or cap flexibility.

Portland is an interesting destination for him, but the Bobcats likely would push for Nicolas Batum to be part of the deal, and the Trail Blazers have been loath to include the young French wing player in any deal. As they should — Batum is a keeper. This in particular would not make sense — Wallace is the better offensive player but he is also eight years older than Batum and more expensive. A package based around Rudy Fernandez and picks would make more sense to Portland. We can beat this offer easily.

3: WALLACE IS AN ALL-STAR ONCE HE GETS BACK ON TRACK WITH THE RIGHT COACH AND SYSTEM

There should be interest in Wallace, he is a quality three guard who can defend and shoot the rock. His shooting numbers are down this season — 15.6 points per game on 43 percent shooting — but that’s because he is getting to the rim less often and shooting more from 16 feet out. It’s the kind of thing that can be corrected, and depending on where he is traded he may not have to carry as much of the offensive load, improving his percentages. At least in theory.

4: ANYONE WHO SAYS NO TO WALLACE IS JUST OUT OF THEIR MINDS

Who do you want? Derrick Favors? Well would you trade a prime Yao Ming for Derrick Favors? No? I thought so. Well Favors don't come free. Unless you're the Lakers. Are you?

6: YOU WANT DEFENSE? NOW YOU SAY NO TO THE BEST DEFENDER IN THE LEAGUE?

People on this board still thinks Battier > Wallace? okkkkk.......................

5: DO YOU LIKE THIS LINEUP?

    Chris Paul
    Kevin Martin
    Gerald Wallace
    Josh Smith
    Dwight Howard

I don't think I can say, without a doubt, that Gerald Wallace is a better defender than Shane Battier. Better overall player? No question, Wallace. Better defender? That's tough..

From where did CP3, Smith and Howard came? I don't Gerald and Martin attracting the other 3...

I am all for getting him if we can do it by trading Yao because supposing Yao can play again, we can sign him during off season for cheap. I personally think that we will be giving Shane for this trade.

I like him because he is a great defender, great rebounder... 15 & 8 guy... he is not liability on the offensive end. Brings toughness we lack..

I will be happy if Morey can bring him and a starting center before the deadline.

Even when Battier was at his best, he wasn't quite as good a defender as Gerald Wallace, but with Battier regressed as he has now? it's not even remotely close.

I just can't say that with 100% certainty. Maybe I haven't watched Gerald Wallace enough -- but Shane Battier was a DAMN good defender. And he still is a pretty darn good one. Losing his shot blocker behind him has made him appear to decline further than he actually has, IMO.

I know that GWall is wayyyy more athletic and should be the superior defender -- but Battier's intelligence closes that gap fast in my mind.

I don't mean to say that I want to pass on Wallace.. just that I'm not entirely sure he's a better defender than Shane.

    To DM:

Just get a solid center please! Enough with this propensity to twiddle with the edges and rearrangement of chairs. Do what you have to do but get a good ol' solid center first and/or a significant allstar.

I want to get the Rockets closer to a championship asap so quit trying to make fancy moves with no significant steps towards a championship.

    Sincerely,

A Fan who has been waiting for a championship
