Chick-fil-A, Wendys, or Taco Bell. Honestly I don't know how you guys can eat Subway, have you ever gone to any other sandwich chain? Subway has GREAT bread, but you can't tell the difference between their Turkey and Ham tastewise, that is a problem. To name a few: Firehouse Subs Jimmy Johns Which-Wich Quiznos (some stuff here is good) are all A LOT better than Subway, and food comes out pretty much as fast and tastes a lot better. A medium at any place probably costs what it costs @ Subway for a footlong, but more meat makes it more filling and tasty imo.
Never had it, they have one in Austin? Also not sure how quick it was, I was just naming fast casual type sandwich restaurants.
Sure, all those other places are good, but I think the reason most of us end up eating Subway is because of the availability. It's a lot easier to find a Subway than one of those places, especially when you're limited on time. Also, once again, I tried to only list the largest fast food chains, which is why places like that weren't included. Oh, and I would add Jersey Mike's to your list. Pugs
Going on that line, I don't think I ever saw a Jimmy John's when I lived in Houston. Yeah, it's a lot better than Subway's, and since they're quite common in Saint Paul, I'll go there, but I would have gone to Subway when I was back home.
Jimmy John's is great. Love their fresh bread, and they are not stingy. Plus the turkey is carved right there in the store, not in packages.
Since I've went on a (mostly) low carb diet, I only get salads when I go for fast food. Wendy's has the best fast food salads by a pretty wide margin. When I decide I can't live without a fast food burger, I prefer Sonic, then Whataburger.
Best breakfast: Whataburger Taquitos. I swear there's crack in the fancy ketchup and picante. Best quick, convenient meal: Subway. Never amazing tasting but amazingly consistent. Best burger joint: Wendys. When everything is fresh its awesome but its very hit and miss. Total treat to eat and all around greatness: Chik Fil A. Never had a bad chik-fil-a meal. I'm a bit biased because I went to school in Atlanta (Chik-fil-a's headquarters) and regularly ate at the first stand-alone Chil-fil-a restaurant which had the best service I've ever seen at a FF restaurant. Peach Milkshake for the win!
I think the only ones I have eaten at in the last year are Whataburger, Chick-fil-A, and Panda Express so those are my favorite
Sonic blows. McDonalds is ****. Burger King is subpar. Jack in the Box used to be good but now they suck. I pretty much stick to Whataburger and Taco Bell, and Raising Cains / Chick Fil A.
Whataburger shouldn't count. If you have to take a number it really isn't fast food. Whataburger is no faster than Schlotzsky's. I kind of feel the same about Sonic / Dairy Queen. I have plenty of nice childhood memories of McDonalds from the early 70's. So it gets my vote mostly for nostalgic reasons. Back then as a little kid it was a real treat to go get an ice cream cone and a burger, or get it drive-through and go to the park to eat. This was a time before Happy Meals. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/OUy1oMvLj8Y?hd=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
If you like Raining Canes, be sure and try Bush's the next time you drive to Dallas. http://www.bushschicken.com/
I go to Arby's every now and then for the reuben sandwich and the jalapeno bites. Wendy's for their value menu.
