wtf... thats almost the same ratio... if favors was a starter from the beginning of the season (more minutes), he will probably have the same numbers as howard's first season. ur entire post is full of contradictions. u pretty much answered ur own questions yet u dont see it...
If you look at his production when he played over 20 mins, which is mainly around 22-27 mins a game, his average is probably close to 11 and 8. Seems like the type of guy who benefits from more minutes, so i don't think simply doubling his stats makes much sense for Favors. Maybe 5 mins was a low guess, but he'd definitely surpass that average, if he got a reasonable (and realistic) 30 mins a game. If it's mostly about fouls, like it was just pointed out, then it's pretty likely he'll improve his numbers as he adjusts to the speed of the NBA. Fouling excessively is usually is a mental thing, for a rookie who's athletic, and not an inability to keep up physically.
I thought you understood that point that young players could bust, based on your first post. I was providing another view so that you could see more t1 limited view "bust only", from an all-star like KG to non-all-stars like Bynum and Perkins. If I pointed out the same point, the only possibility would still be bust. It doesn't open all the possibilities. I learned a long time ago that not all 18-19 yr old lottery picks are busts, because of 6 rebounds and 6 pt averages. There is a full range of possiblities, but many of them do well. I had a hard time thinking of five or six 18-19 yr old lottery post players that busted. Many of the teens became good players. I just remember the obvious Eddie Griffin and Darko. I think you already knew about Eddie Griffin, being a Rocket's fan. It's like pointing out that Hakeem won 2 rings or Yao Ming is injured all the time. I didn't want to point out something that you already mentioned, which was "bust only" and no chance of being better. It's redundant. If you can think of a list 18-19 year big men busts, I would be glad to look at it. There is more than 1 possiblity here, after all.
If he goes to the Nuggets, they will be BAD as well. So that's no the case. The thing is he has nobody he can learn from. Joe Smith was traded and now only player who he can learn from are Brooks lopez (who can't even get 7 rebounds a game) and Troy Murphy who is not even playing. That's the problem. Somebody has to take care of Favors. He is ONLY 19 and he is playing PRO!
In addition to the ones you mentioned, Kwame, Diop, Tskitishvili, Robert Swift, and Chandler is sort of a bust when you compare him to what he was supposed to be before the draft.
He seems to throw up lots of shots that hit only the rim. I watched a game the other night against the Mavericks, he seemed to be throwing up a shot at every chance. He made only 5 or 6 shots that I counted. I still think Favors will be better. Next year, he will get more minutes and more shots. He is making most of shots, when he gets the opportunity. He's a great rebounder with a long reach.
So you are saying you wouldn't have wanted the Rockets to draft Hakeem, if he came out after his 1st year? He had only 8pts and 6 rebounds in his first year. It would have pretty much guaranteed failure in the NBA, since he didn't dominate at that point. However, he got better as he got older. http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/o/olajuha01.html Duncan wasn't a dominating college as an 18 year old freshman, either. Nobody heard of him at that point. http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/d/duncati01.html
Out of all the teams that have said to be interested in Melo Favors has the most potential unless the Lakers came off of Bynum who is injury prone.
That isn't an option for Denver. It's either accept these deals on the table or let Melo leave for nothing unless he would agree to an extension with Denver.
Looking at Favors numbers he only averaged 12 pts. and 8 rebs but he shot 61%. With the hype he got out of high school I was expecting more points from him.
