he is a great players with few flaws in his game. I think his biggest problem will be on D. where he picked up some bad habits trying to help out the lesser players on his team. I think he will learn quickly to trust his teamates, although we aren't he best Defensive team in the world. I don't worry too much about his post offense. His skill will win out by the end of the season and his number should rise in the playoffs.:)

BUBS has finally said something I can agree with.

This has been my take since the draft -
    12 ppg / 7.5 rebs / 2.5 blocks / 3 assists

IMHO, it will take Yao Ming awhile to avoid foul problems and to physically adjust to an 82 game season. These will limit his minutes and hence his numbers.

I think that Yao will average 15ppg, 9 rebs, 3 ast., 4blks. And you can quote me on that!

I think his second half numbers will no doubt, look better than his first. I can seem him in the second half, assuming he his starting by then, average 15 pts, 10 rbs and 3 or 4 blocks. I think hell be poised for his real breakout year, the following season.

I think Ming's assists will be higher and his blocks lower because 1) he is known to be a good passer from the low post and 2) once he stuffs a few of the league's prima donnas, the rank and file will shoot from outside rather than have Griffin and Ming challenge their shots.

I still owe you a bet. If you are going to start posting more regularly, I will pay up.

I think he's going to be operating from the high post. Shouldn't affect the assists - probably help.

I guess I should participate more, but I read to see what others are thinking. I've never actually played basketball like some of the others -- I was a track and swim team kind of guy, so I rely upon them for additional insight. Of course, there are some that show no knowledge whatsoever and they post anyway.

I think all these numbers are realistic. What will be interesting to me is to see is if his numbers remain relatively steady - Hakeem as a rookie had some excellent games, but on the whole I remember his numbers being pretty consistent until his scoring went up a little at the end of the year. But I don't remember him having breakout games that made you shake your head and say "man in 2 years.... ". E. Griff's game against the Lakers last year was a stunner for me and I wonder what will be a head turning game for Yao this year? 20,10,5,5? I don't know, that's seems pretty doable after watching him as the WBCs (remember I'm talking about his best games this year). I can't really guess what he might do when he's hot and playing against a bad banged up team and Steve keeps force-feeding him the ball. Now that he's almost here I'm reminded how mysterious Yao's NBA game is. Of course, then there's that size thing...

I think my boy Yao will average....
    14.7PPG 7RPG 2.3BPG

He will do well against teams like...
Phoenix, Philadelphia, Miami, Orlando, Dallas, Indiana, LA Clippers, Seattle, Toronto, New Orleans, Washington, Milwaukee and Atlanta.

He will struggle against teams like...
LA Lakers (when Shaq's in), Minnesota, Portland, New Jersey, and Sacremento, and Detroit.

    He will dominate...
Golden State, Chicago, Memphis, Cleveland, Atlanta, New York, Boston.

I think he will have way more good nights than bad once he knows what to expect. He'll be here tomorrow, so the Ming Dynasty is almost under way.:D

Hopefully with EG near the Post, the two of them will dominate the Twin Towers of the Spurs, also!!!

Remember that good players make other players better.

Explain how Derek Fisher, from the Lakers, scores 25+ points on some nights.
Kobe and Shaq make him better.

Now, someone please stand-up and tell me if you think that Steve Francis
    is a pretty good player...

If our opponets don't double team Yao, then he can shoot over them. If they do,
then that leaves Francis, Mobley, or Boki wide-open...

Again, this is called a TEAM. Man, this is getting better the more I think
    about it.

    :)

Reality check: Francis is still the leader. No matter how many points
    someone else scores.

Another reality check: Someone remind me that last time Cato was
    doubled teamed...

Dudes, whats with the conservatism? He is too tall for the league to stop.

    20 Points
    12 Rebounds
    4.5 Blocks
    4.5 Assists

    and

    ROY!!!!!!!!

Mobley will make the all-star team this year for sure. No doubt. He might even start. Look for Mobley to average 25 Points this year. He has mad game.

    i'd say:

    12 points
    8 rebounds
    4 assists
    3 blocks

this is based on him being possibly tired. i think these numbers will be higher in the second half.

what would he have to put up to be an all-star with no centers but shaq? would those numbers and a good rockets team be enough to have him selected as a backup? hard to say.

Rudy has said Yao will play 25min per game.
I guess Yao can get 20p, 10r, 3a,3b, its easy.
He has proved this when he faced NBA all-star player in WBC
with his bad teamates. Donnot tell me every NBA team is made
    of all-star player.;)

I'm thinking more like 27pts, 18brds, 8blcks for the rookie season.
