Morey would have to give up much more to acquire those 2. Ujiri, Denver's GM, has repeatedly mentioned that Afflalo's in the team's future plans. He's emerged on to the scene this season, and is essentially a rich man's Shane Battier. Lock-down defense, consistent 3-ball, and strong around the cup.

Afflalo and Lawson are in Denver for the long haul.

I still don't want Nene, all his gonna do is hurt our draft positioning this year and next (assuming he opts in for the remainder of his contract next season) and make us a border line playoff team that gets swept in the 1st round by better teams.

He will further keep us in mediocrity, this team need's to take a dive - All we are doing with this team is collecting enough talent to avoid the bottom barrel of the NBA- But that's exactly where the rockets should be heading!!!

This is exactly what needs to happen, Morey needs to come to consensus with les to take this route so he won't feel his job will be in jeopardy by tanking.

Again I ask: if Nene seemingly will cost us 2-3 assets + the NY pick versus a player like Chris Kaman straight up for expiring contracts, which move better suits us?

Keep in mind Kaman and Nene are both capable players, the same age and on similar contracts.

    I'm just asking hypothetically.

I'd rather pay the extra for Nene.

I'm sick of often injured Centers.

    Well, that's the thing.

Doing the quick math prior to this season Kaman has played in 80% of all possible games whereas Nene has played in only 68.9% of all games.

I understand Kaman is recovering from a recent injury this year too and Nene has put together two solid seasons in a row. But historically speaking they're both injury prone.

all centers are injury prone..that's just how it is..with that said..kaman has just come back from an injury and don't really know if or when he will be 100%..nene has 2 good years behind him where he has helped a team stay in title contention..so id go with nene..seems like less of a risk..

They're all tradeable, but I would really hope to keep Martin, Lowry, Lee, and the guys with potential. I think Martin is the best guy to build a team around, though I don't want too many minutes going to non-defenders.

Well most of Nene's missed games came during two seasons.

In 2005-06 he had a major knee injury in his first game.

In 2007-08 he hurt his thumb and just as he was coming back, he found out he had a malignant tumor in his body... which caused him to miss much of the season.

That was the last injury he had, and he's recovered extremely well from it.

So while Nene might have missed more games, I'd say Kaman's the one that's more "injury-prone." Especially considering most of his missed games have come in the past 4 seasons.

Not disagreeing. Just pointing out those numbers for accuracy's sakes.

I was posing the Nene vs. Kaman question merely as a 'hypothetical'. Given Denver's propensity to be greedy, I think it's in our best interest to consider all options.

This is a good comment from that page. Makes a lot of sense.
Wouldn't make sense to take on Martin's 3 year remaining contract.

    I agree

In all honesty, I'm hoping the Nuggets end up trading 'Melo to the Nets and get Favors in return. That way it might take Patterson off the table, and since they already have Afflalo and JR Smith, Lee might be off the table as well.

Those are the two young guys that I want to hang on to right now. I'd be willing to trade any of the other ones for Nene.

But that's just me... who knows what's going on in Morey's mind right about now.

I am going to throw a trade out there that will help improve a Championship Contender and give Rockets fans what they have been begging for. Then, I will wait for the flames...

    Chicago Gets:

    Carmelo Anthony
    Chuck Hayes
    Patrick Patterson

    Denver Gets:

    Luol Deng
    Joakim Noah
    Jared Jeffries
    Shane Battier

    Houston Gets (wait for it...):

    Nene Hilario
    Omar Asik
    Al Harrington
    Brian Scalabrine

    Now, before the flames begin...

Chicago would be absolutely stupid not to do this deal. They are only 2.5 games out of 1st in The East without Noah. Carmelo is obviously a big upgrade over Deng at SF. Thibodeau is quite familiar with Chuck Hayes and what he can do defensively. I will go ahead and lay it out before it's even argued; Chuck Hayes is a better defender than Joakim Noah. Period.

Sure, you run the risk that Carmelo doesn't re-sign, but if you make the finals you have a much better chance than anyone else and if you win the championship there is no friggin' way he doesn't re-sign. He is really tailor made for Chicago and the Jordan comparisons would only help fuel his ego. Also, you want to make damn sure that Rose doesn't try to bolt after next season, which could very well be the case if The Bulls can't get out of the conference finals and make no mistake it will be very very tough to beat Boston and Miami.

Also, giving up Noah isn't such a big blow for Chicago as some might think when you have a very similar player on the upswing in Taj Gibson.

Houston gets exactly what they were begging for; SIZE, SIZE, and MORE SIZE and are able to do it by only trading 1 of their younger players in Patterson and no draft picks. They can still match offers on Brooks and they still have their core offense in Martin/Scola + Yao Ming freeing up their cap space in the summer. Though, the cost of doing business in the NBA is that they must take on Al Harrington.

And lastly for Denver, this is really their best chance at not destroying their entire team with a dumb trade at the deadline or letting Carmelo walk. This deal still keeps them fighting for the 7th or 8th spot in The West before they get to play in the free agent market after dumping dead weight like Kenyon Martin and J.R. Smith (if they don't move him in another trade). They have a nice young backcourt to build on with Lawson and Afflalo (who they should match any offer on). With the money they have, they could go after Al Horford, Tyson Chandler, or even both.

I dont understand what the ROckets are trying to do. Are they trying to rebuild again now that we don't have a star talent or try to give it another shot with trading away young pieces and trying to win now.

Getting Nene or not, he is not going to help us win any championship. We might be able to make it to the playoffs but we're be in that same cycle again. Right now, the ROckets need to find a path and stick with it.

No more trying to rebuild and at the same time, trying to win now. They should know that no matter what they trade for, they have absolutely no shot at winning it all. Trading away young pieces just set them back more and it would take longer for the team to rebuild. Its better if they try to go after high picks and young player with really high potential rather than going for older players thats better suited for a win now type of team.
