McDess is one of my favorite players and I am not sure I even spelled his name right so go ahead and bash me. This is my first post after being a lurker for a while. It is with great trepidation that I am posting this with all the hating that goes on with this board but here it goes. Most people think that we have no chance at the playoffs this year and New Yorks season is in the crapper so why not trade for the guy and solve our who are we going to put on the IR list problem. We could keep Yao, Stevie. Cat, Griffin. and mabey Boki- let them choose any other 3 players they want that equals the pay-mabey Mo Talor, Cato and whoever. I still think we would make the playoff this year but next year = championship. Just imagine McDyess, Ming, Stevie, Cat and Griffin on the same team. We can wait a year for McDyess-our team could jell with the rookies this year. Next year my God-we would be a REAL powerhouse. New York may even be competitive in the suck-ass east. It would help both teams. Please forgive the mispellings.grammer and imperfections. I was just wondering what others may think of this and remember sticks and stones....:
Yao Griffin McDyess Cat Franchise I like th theory...but your spelling SUCKS!!! Just kidding...Welcome to the board!!!
Who said "most people think we have no chance of making the playoffs this year"? Most people in the media, maybe. Not on this board!
I will say this on brando's behalf. McDyess has averaged 18pts, 9 rbs, 2 blks and has shot 50% for his career. Other than last season and this season, the guy has been relatively healthy for his career. Plus hes only 28 years old and maybe hasn't reached his full potential yet. I think he can definatelyl heel from this injury and if he regains his form and stays healthy, he can be an all-star again in the big man depleted east. But I think we have something special in Griffin and he has shown flashes of McDyess like potential. Eddie, you can tell, looks alot more confident now and seems to almost want the ball, like he did last night. Plus the fact that its almost unheard of to trade for someone that just had a season ending knee injury.
Why is it that when someone posts for the first time, they feel the need to say "This is my first post, so be gentle and don't bash me?" It's like saying "I know my take sucks, but I'm gonna say it anyway"... If you have something to say, just say it. If it sucks, we'll tell you. If it doesn't then you will get legitimate responses. As to your post....McDyess is done. No GM in his right mind will trade for the mega-contract of a player who only has one leg.
That megacontract is 2 years. One year if he opts out. McDyess is likely not over, but ti would be a terrible business decision to pay someone who might sit on your bench for one or 2 years, then leave.
This would be basketball version's of Boselli...Too attractive to pass up, but banther fodder when you get him...
Rockets will be in the Playoffs this Season! Dont mess with our team, give them a chance to develop their chemistry.
I love the skills that McDyess possesses also but I would not trade for him after back to back injuries to his knees. Like we need another criple Glenn Rice? No Freakin Way! The Rox are a young team and to continue to make wholesale changes and rosters moves will stunt their growth potential. Just let the guys play!
Too bad for McDyess because he is a real talent. But this is how it starts. Look at other players that have had consecutive serious injuries, they rarely return to form. Time off erodes their skill and the injury often erodes their physical ability not to mention the mental damage he has to overcome every time they use that part of their body in hard physical competition. Some of the more recent memories of injured players that just never quite returned to style for whatever reason are Jim Jackson, Penny Hardaway and Grant Hill. We all remember Ralph Sampson. Maybe Hill will be able to make a comeback but I will be surprised if he returns to his pre-injury form. I just don't think that it is in our best interest to take that kind of a chance on someone that might not even get a chance to play healthy before his contract expires. The risk is just too big and besides we have our own great up and coming power forward, a kid named Eddie.
This is the man's second big injury. Are we gonna be different than the other teams or does that just not matter because McDyess is just plain injury prone. I'll trade any three guys for Shaq, but not for McDyess.
Why the heck would we trade for an injury prone player that won't even set foot on the court this season.
McDyess, IMHO, will return someday to be a Larry Johnson type of shadow of his former self, at best. So I agree with a lot of other replies here in that sense, but even if he was healthy, I think his game has too much overlap with what we're wanting from Griff, so I don't see them on the court at the same time. As for your not completed cliche, I'm trying to remember it. Sticks and stones ... may break ... may break my bones, ...but but you won't break me again. (apologies, Refman, )
