I must be missing something.......Taylor as a backup 5? Well, I guess against smaller lineups, but seeing him guarding any decent 5 would be scary ...............
He did it in his 1st year with the Rocks, I think. Against the East, its not so bad. Imagine him going against Jason Collier...ok maybe a little better. He would probably open up the lanes playing C, though.
any intelligence, for those of us working blind here, as to how MUCH boki's still-healing wounds might be affecting his preseason play? (I read about how it was affecting his practices -- sometimes a lot, sometimes very little...)
Can we even put Mo on the injured list when he is serving his 5 game suspension? Does anyone know the rule on this?
Watching Taylor and Collier play one on one.....hmmmm ......ouch I can see it against smaller lineups. Im trying to think of a good team in the west that will go small like that.
Pretty sure you cant put an injured player on the IR.....plus, I think if you are on IR, you might have to spend a minimum number of games there .... actually, i might be wrong ...i may be thinking about baseball
After seeing Nachbar today I think he will make the active roster,he was looking more comfortable on the court and has greater range on his shot than Oscar Torres.
With TMo out, Nachbar should make active roster (barring injury). As far as b/u 2, with the advent of zone defense in the pros, its much easier to blend folks into the game in non-traditional line-ups. I could see us playing a 1-3-1 with Franchise up top, Yao in the middle with KT & Boki on the wings and EG running the baseline. That defensive set would also work on offense with some slight mod (KT & Grif splitting time down low). Let's give Boki a break. He's a rookie and with his injury and TMo playing well he hasn't received enough minutes to get comfortable. It will come with more minutes.
PG - Francis, Norris SG - Mobley, Torres SF - Thomas, Rice, Morris, Nachbar PF - Griffin, Taylor C - Ming, Cato Taylor - out first four games of season! Mickael - IR Collier - IR Brown - IR Maddox doesn't make the team. It between Maddox and Mickael. My vote is for Mickael. Maddox looks too tentative at preseason.
Nachbar looks like a lock to make the roster now that Morris out 4-6 weeks whith the ankle injury. Too bad for Temoo.
The IR initially will house Tmo, Moochie and Collier. After these injuries, assuming no more real injuries, it will be a rotation of Collier, Maddox, Brown and Boki. Pete will not make the team.
if the rockets waive pete mickel. imma personally slap the hell out of everyone in rockets management. pete is a hustle type player and can even hit that lil jumpshot of his. hell while every other rocket is staring at each other standing still looking stupid on defense pete is out there hustling and busting his ass off for rebounds.
Nachbar will make the roster and get a chance to prove himself in some way simply because he is the 15th pick. I wouldn't be surprised though if Rudy and Co. were regretting making this pic right now. In any case, he'll get a chance to prove he wasn't a waste of a pick.
Regretting it? He's already a bust? Well, if that's the barometer, then Ming has scored 0 points so far this preseason. I guess he's a bust too. I bet Rudy and Carroll Dawson are sitting around wishing they had chosen Juan Dixon or Carlos Boozer instead right now. Too bad they took Bust-jan Nachbar instead of all those superstars who were drafted from 16-30.
Which is what this is all about. It is impossible that the team can be having regrets about picking Nachbar. Skita is complaining about how difficult the NBA is so lets us find it within us to have some patience and understanding for Nachbar. I would say thank god some of us are not the one entrusted with making personnel decisions.
I think Boki is improving every game I have seen him in. He is looking more comfortable out there with the limited time he gets. His shooting will be better with more games, but he needs to work on his defense. However, to say that Rudy may be regretting the pick before the season has even started, is kinda jumping the gun. The guy just came off hernia surgery and getting accustomed to NBA style of play. He's also in whole new environment. Already, he's looking more comfortable out there than Langhi ever was. I know thats not saying much, but I don't think Rudy and co. will regret the pick anytime soon.
