Nene is not a star. So while a good pickup he wouldnt warrant a star type of package of young players and picks. Hope we dont give them what we should have for a Superstar. Other than that? Its an ok move. Should solidify that position for at least 4 to 5 years.

Brooks + 1st for Nene or Lee + Second is all I'm willing to pay since we aren't gonna win anything with or without Nene.

I preface by saying that I don't think Nene will put us over the top for anything. Nor do I believe he's a difference maker. But I would like the trade for several reasons.

    1. It consolidates our assets a bit, which right now is more a smattering of talent that has no real direction. i.e. it may finally allow T-Will to play, not that I think he's our savior, but rather it will save me the headache of seeing gazillion Free-TWill threads in GARM.

    2. It hugely upgrades the center position, which in of itself is very hard to find talent at.

    3. Nene's at an age where he should more or less be able to play out his next contract easily, especially if signed with the next CBA in place. So he's not really a risk. He's also expiring, which means we can go after a max guy if god forbid one actually wants to come.

    4. If we do make a true splash, along the lines of an Iggy or Granger or even Melo, Nene would be able to round out the lineup more than our current roster would.

I really hope we don't do this. It is time to rebuild. Trade whoever we can that has some value.

I don't understand why we would do this, we need a 7ft and over defensive center...its time to rebuild.

Why not start rebuilding now and giving up a little bit more to get someone who can make a difference..

this season is over, I don't see us rebounding back to playoff status..

I'm not saying he's going to be Yao on the offensive end but his weaknesses are the same ones Yao had, and they can easily be coached away. He already is a very good defender, he's a reason why the Bulls haven't skipped a beat since losing Noah.

Good to hear and I'm liking the idea of pursuing Nene for obvious reasons. Only thing I'll say is given Denver's propensity to be greedy, I'd like to see the final offer before I give my approval or not.

If/when Melo gets dealt thereby signifying a rebuilding movement in Denver, whether the Nuggets will admit it or not they immediately shift into a firesale mentality. That doesn't mean they'll give away all their assets at $0.50 on the $1.00 but it does somewhat weaken their leverage in these discussions.

Hill + Jeffries for Nene straight up makes a lot of sense for both parties. I might be willing to add one more asset on top of that but after that point it seems we're giving up too much for a guy they'll look to move at some point within the next year anyway.

A counterpoint to the Nene idea that I saw somebody already bring up was the idea of Chris Kaman. Given that Kaman is a capable player in his own right, the same age as Nene and on a similar contract you can probably understand why this idea has caught my eye. Add to that, with DeAndre Jordan's strong play there have been whispers the Clippers might look to offload Kaman's contract or basically give him away to any team willing to absorb the remainder of his deal.

So at the end of the day if we're talking 2-3 assets + the NY pick for Nene versus expiring contracts straight up for Kaman, I think there's a legitimate debate regarding which move better suits us.

Jeffries + J.Hill and a 2nd rounder for Maybyner (Nene) Hilario

Saw it posted a on a few sites that any deal involving Denver would have to center around J.Hill...

Masai Ujiri is a Bullshyt GM, So if DM is actually trying to make this deal I expect him to pull the chair out from under Masai's azz... ;)

Brooks, Budinger, Hill and Clippers 2nd. Pick 3 and add some contract filler like Jeffries would be my max. But I'm sure the price tag is much higher given what they are asking for from NYK for Melo. Plus I doubt Denver wants a 4 for 1 trade.

Nene would be a huge presence on this team. He's automatic around the rim and is a solid post defender. Sure, he's not dominant in any facet of the game, but centers like that don't exist anymore. He's got similarities to Marc Gasol and in many ways is superior, but everyone will clamor for Gasol because he's two inches taller.

I skipped a lot so maybe I missed it, but who said Nene wouldn't improve the team? I see a lot of posters opining that this move is too little, too late for this season. I think by and large, most think he is a good player but many believe he isn't a fit for a hopeless(?) 2011 run or a team that is looking to completely rebuild. Seeing as Nene can just walk after this season, this argument holds water.

Nice post, though. Well thought out and brought a lot to the table.

Just curious, where some would some of you rank Nene in terms of best centers in the league?

Who is this mysterious, available center that is going to make a difference?

Kaman is probably the most available player right now. Nene isn't a bad option either.

He's not worth what Denver will want and probably get.
