Today I was contemplating how I manage my time, and came to the realization that I spend FAR FAR too much time following sports. Watching sports by itself really serves no educational purpose. It has very little conversational value (outside of these boards). I can watch an entire Sunday's worth of football games, starting at noon and ending at 10:30 when the ESPN game is over, and be no smarter than when I started watching.

I estimate that I devote an average of 5 hours per day to sports. I'm including time spent viewing games, viewing highlights (sportscenter), time on this BBS, and time spent listening to sports radio. That would equate to approximately 35 hours per week of nothing but following sports. Not completely empty/wasted time, but pretty darn close.

    What is your tally?

seriously? i would have to say about 90-100 hours of watching sports, watching sports related stuff (ESPN shows, news, etc), writing sports columns, and reading sports web sites.

edit: oh yeah, i forgot about partaking in sports. i do that daily!

It's scary to think how much time I spend with sports related stuff. The other night there were no sports on and I felt lost. No baseball or basketball, not even any hockey to watch which I don't like anyway.

If I'm bored, I do one of 2 things: Play video games, watch sports. (I kind of count Sports Entertainment as a sport.)In some case, I do both. (play sports games, or watching a video game sport, like Slamball. :D ) I have no idea how much time I spend on sports, but when I wake up and go to sleep, my TV is on ESPN News and my computer's homepage is on a sports site. (guess which one? ;) ) I would be REALLY bored without sports.

It kind of depends on the season. Around the time basketball starts, probably around 40 hours per week. Over the summer, it's more like 10 or 11 hours.

I'd say around 35 hours. The rest goes to? What do I do?

In all honesty...probably anywhere from 50-70 hours. During the year i tend to run about 20 fantasy teams (8 football, 4 hockey, 8 basketball), read alot and post a bit at this board, watch probably 2 football games, 2 hockey games, and all the basketball i can see, and probably play about 4-5 hours worth of basketball/volleyball/football. And then if you count snowboarding a sport...i hope to get probably 10 hours of that a week in.

    Maybe 12 hours on a slow week...and 8-9 during a normal week.

Of the 168 hours in a week, I'd have to say about 100-110 of those hours have to do with sports. The rest of the time is devoted to sleep, eating and class. I'd hate to even think of what my world would be like without sports.

    All 168 hours.

If by sports you mean rampant sex with delectable p*rnography starlets.

Far too many, what with my fantasy team sucking as they do. :(

It's been a lot more lately, now that I have a football team again and Ming is coming soon. I haven't been at this level of excitement in quite a while.

Would that be the left hand or the right hand? Or are you ambidextrous?
