I didn't want to start another Melo thread but I feel like this is a topic that should be discussed, especially with all the excitement and interest in him. Obviously Anthony is a GREAT player, there is no arguing that, but considering what we'd have to give up (especially being a western conference team), how good can we really be? Would we gut our roster just to go back to mediocre? Or do you think we could be a contending team year in and out, instead of just hanging at the edge of contending like the nuggets for the past four years, or like the injury prone old rockets? It seems that every time Melos name come up, people talk about it like it's a given that he can take us to a championship. He couldnt take the nuggets, and are our role players really that much better than Denver's, if better at all? This is not even considering who we'd lose in the trade.. so before we start comparing Melo's rockets to the top NBA teams, discuss this: would Carmelo even make us that much better than these Nuggets?

[Might be a pointless thread, if Mods think so please delete it, this is just a thought I had]

Well he'd have a really strong bench. Denver has had a weak bench for a long time.

No because they have centers on their roster.

The bench that allowed our bench to score 68 pts the other night. You should have seen it. It was awful.

We kill Nuggets that currently have Melo, and we don't. Nuff said?

Denver's front court is very underrated. A great defender in Kenyon Martin and a great scorer and passer in Nene. Something the Rockets really aren't close to having. Sure Chucks a good defender and Scola scores well, but Nene understands rotations much better than scola and it makes Kenyon's job of weak side shot blocking a hell of a lot easier.

we would be a lot better, but thats if we dont lose a lot of our players for him...if we lose kmart and louis or something..we would probably be pretty close to the nuggets now.

Morey would finally have a chance to build around a superstar, so I believe he could keep us contending for many years after he continued to tweak the roster.

We also lost to them twice earlier. And they have been ahead of us for three straight seasons.

it depends on which denver team you are talking about. if you are talking about the old team w/o melo distraction, i would say no. if the current team, i would say yes.
