Why would either party in the CBA talks want existing TPEs invalidated? That doesn't help anyone, and pisses off the teams that have them.
Let it expire. Yaos contract can expire and have the same effect. Morey cant get anything done? He just cant. Too many homers saying how he raped XYZ team and now he cant deal with anybody. I dont feel much is coming.
I think the fundamental idea is flawed if it involves trading away Yao and a bunch of young assets for a chance at winning now. The Rox should be going into rebuilding mode which means holding onto and developing young talent, especially consider the age of guys like Battier, Scola, etc.

Depending on your source, the Kings are now somewhere between $15.5-15.8M below the salary cap. In fact, if Sacramento makes no further moves, they will actually have to pay a ~$1.2M fine to the NBA for being below the MINIMUM salary cap figure. It is quite conceivable that the Rockets could make a trade for Samuel Dalembert, where the Rockets send back less salary (within salary matching rules), thereby creating enough salary cap room in Sacramento for the Kings to take on Yao's entire salary in a separate trade. For instance, the following trades would be doable, if the parties are both interested: Trade #1: Houston gets: Samuel Dalembert Sacramento gets: Jared Jeffries, Brad Miller, 2011 HOU/LAC 2nd rd. pick and cash Trade #2: Houston gets: Nominal future second rounder (top-55 protected?) Sacramento gets: Yao Ming Houston generates a $17.7M trade exception, trumping Denver's as the largest TPE in NBA history. Get 'er done, Morey!
