Prime Hakeem > prime shaq. I don't know about prime Kareem vs prime Hakeem. Would be a toss up really. Russell should be in a category in himself. He wasn't necessarily skilled like Hakeem but he has so many ******* rings
Dream would take Chamberlain for a ride, and then some. Kareem is a close one because he was such an unstoppable scorer but in terms of overall game give me dream any day. His versatility is still unmatched to this day.
hakeem didnt play for a national celeb city hence the votes. think thats why we value him higher than other nba fans. he gave us two rings. after him, we havent sniffed wcf. lol really shows u how great of a player he was.
Rings bring respect, even if it's on a superfriends team. Jordan had Pippen, but Hakeem to do it without another star. He would have been voted higher. If Hakeem had gotten a star guard earlier in his career, he would have had more rings like the other C's. Wilt was just a giant among boys.
Jordan picked Hakeem has his center when asked to make a best nba starters team. He picked Hakeem because he was the best all round center ever in the NBA. That he wasnt just a great shot blocker but also he was 7th in steals all time (Hakeem is 8th now i believe). Maybe Jordan is bias because he actually played against Hakeem. Hakeem also has the most Five by Fives, plus a Quadruple Double. Still, it is hard to judge players from different eras.
I've always had a problem bringing in rings into a debate about a players individual greatness. Luc longley, Bill Cartwright both have rings should, they be listed as well?
I hate judging players by the amount of rings they have won. It literally drives me crazy when someone says, "well x player is better than y player because they have z amount of rings." Nobody has ever won a ring by themselves.
Well he definitely is in a good company on that list. Unlike for example Moses Malone who wasn't too shabby either. I think Hakeem is getting a lot of recognition recently. You don't hear much about Ewing, Robinson or Mourning. He owned his era (between Kareem and Shaq) and nobody seems to question it now.
Bill Russell played with a bunch of all-stars and Hall of Famers. For most of his career, Wilt was the only star on his team. Teams would focus on Wilt, but still couldn't stop him.
